Just wondering what is typical for alterations pricing for both bridal gowns and BM dresses? I know it will depend depending on complexity, but would love an average or range (personal experiences if willing) so I know where my shop falls.
I'm already locked in for my gown, but am debating on whether my girls should have theirs done privately.

my dress was about $325 (but my cap was at $275 so that's what i'm paying) plus tax .... that's for having it taken in, and making it a bit shorter (so the 'usual' things)

The alterations for my dress will cap at $250.
For the BMs, the place we ordering from does not do alterations but suggests a place to go. From experience, my alterations for my BM dresses have ranged anywhere from like $50-$125 depending on what I had to have done to it. Sometimes I didn't need alterations at all.

My alterations cap at $395 (no tax) and I have no idea what I'll need done, though I know I measure 3 completely different sizes on bust-waist-hip and I'll definitely need a hem, so I don't know how elaborate that can get. The seamstresses at the shop come highly recommended but I still feel like it's a lot! The gown+alterations are $1745, so I guess it's still not so bad.
They are quoting $95 for bridesmaids.

well I know for mine that the lady said I most likely will not need to get it hemmed any higher. When I ordered, I already had my shoes for the day so she took them measurements calculating in the shoe height. I know I'm going to need to have it taken in because I have already gone down from the measurements on my order form so hopefully it won't be too much.

I've only been in weddings...so for one wedding it was$35 and the second it was $65 for the BM dress

I'm actually just really, really nervous about alterations and all of the frustration, hassle and horror stories I hear regarding alterations. My dress is not too complex but I wonder if any past brides have tips to know when going in for fittings? Things to look out for or ask, etc?
