Alternative Hour Meltdown

Alternative Hour Meltdown

Well I found out that we are NOT having our alternative hour. FH said it would not be the best idea (he originally came up with it!) I know that it was controversial, but to be honest I have been having such trouble getting something that I want.

Ex: 'My reception is too far away,' WE HAVE to get a shuttle for people. My mother expected me to be covered head to toe in fabric because I am overweight. I requested for my bp to get a cocktail length dress , not strapless and in sage green. My moh ( my sister) picked out a gown, strapless and and kelly green! Her and her daughter are my only wedding party. I really didn't expect it to be this difficult. She finally conceded to my request, but not after 2-3 months of stress of me not being able to plan anything because I didn't know what color I was having at MY wedding.

I figured by having this separate hour, my f h and I could have have something we wanted and not offend anyone.

He doesn't want to do it now because he knows that my family will freak. But yet instead he wants to have the SAME music played at the reception (NIne Inch Nails, Drowning Pool, Ramnstein, Rob Zombie). No, that's much better let's have it mixed in with the HOKEY POKEY!!!!!! The family won't have anything to say about that. right?

I understand he wants to make sure that I don't get hurt because my family will NEVER let me live it down. But I have to say I am dissappointed.

Sorry had to vent, I'm just sitting here crying and the ice cream is calling to me.

Oh man! That kinda stinks but maybe you can play it toward the end of the reception during dessert, people are tired by then and maybe it would be a good time to get them fired up

I'm sorry you're having a tough time with planning.
I think mixing the music in might be a much better idea, b/c one song isn't going to make EVERYONE leave... especially if you have a DJ who can mix it right.
I understand being disapointed, but at least your FH is looking out for you.

what kind of ice cream you got?

I can't have any of that at my reception either because my family is very conservative. We're going out to see our friend's band the night after to have an evening of our own music (Rockabilly/Psychobilly).

That's a good idea. Unfortunately I think I am moving to PA the next day. No honeymoon for me! By the way I am getting married at the Country Gardens and having Tommy Tunes! I'll let you know how it goes.

Mint chocolate chip is the name of the game. It's a shame since I am SUPPOSED to be on a diet. The countdown has begun and I have till March to lose the 13 lbs I gained! Now mind you this is of the 35 lbs I LOST! oops.

Thanks. I hope you can make a compromise.

I am sorry to hear that you are dissappointed. Weddings are a tricky thing. On the one hand, you want to have what you want. On the other, you want your guests to be happy (after all, you are throwing a party). But talk to your DJ about mixing the music. It may work out better to 'dilute' the music. I am using Tommy Tunes also. Who is your DJ?

Dominic. I haven't met him yet though. I have just spent the last hour on the phone with my friend who has told me that I should not do what my fh wants. Personally I agree. I think I am finally up to eloping! Aree you excited yet?

Eloping sounds like a GREAT idea. Sometimes I wonder why I am putting all this time, stress, and money intot this. The day is going to come and go, and I could have gotten a brand new BMW with all the $$$.

But I am super excited! It is 48 days away!!!!!

ETA: We are using Dan.
