Alternative to Unity Candle

Alternative to Unity Candle

need some help.....get your creative juices flowing.... we were going to do a unity candel, but i just feel like everyone does it (NO OFFENSE to anyone who is doing it) and it looses it's significance (I think i've just seen it too many times) I want to really give the symbolic meaning of the two of us becoming one, but not sure how else to do it. does this make sense? We will probably take communion together for the first time as a married couple, but that really doesn't connotate the same meaning. any suggestions for a unity candel alternative

AGAIN: I didn't mean to offend anyone who is doing a unity candle. i think they are beautiful, i was just trying to think of something new

No offense taken. Did you see Trista & Ryan get married on tv? I'm a BIG fan! They put sand in a glass cylinder one at a time and then together. so that it was one consistency...and that was so cute. FM me for more details if you need. You could also feed each other wine (if you do a mass), or another great thing is to write each other letters before you get married letting others know what you love about your partner and have the priest read them at your ceremony....what a tear jerker this is, but very, very sweet and different!

thank you! I really appreciate your ideas! We are Baptist, so we are not having a mass, but maybe we could incorporate something into the ceremony that expresses our love for each other--did see ryan and trista get married-the sand thing was a little too 'new agey/feel good' for my taste, but i appreciate the thoughts and ideas and i could take them and build on them! THANK YOU!!
