Alternatives to Catering Halls

Alternatives to Catering Halls

Been looking for a few months and was hoping to get married next Oct. but there's nothing left. We're paying for ourselves and what we've seen is so much $$$. Anyone have any other ideas for about 100 people? Someone told me about Coindre Hall having a barn or something like that and then you cater it yourselves. Is this cheaper?

There are some nice Knights of Columbus halls on the island.

I cannot believe next October is taken already. Jeez.

Forgot about that. Might have to wait another year to save some more money. Had no idea how involved everything was but want to do it right.

The barn you are talking about at condre hall is the boat house - i believe - i could not imagine having a wedding there

But you can just rent condre hall for 24 hours - they have caters they use - but i belive you can use anyone you want

but might want to look into what the rental of the mansion includes- becase chair and able rentals and all that stuff can be expensive

Good luck with your decision - if you know someone in a country club on long island you might find a better deal

There is an awesome working farm somewhere in queens where you can rent this main house for weddings and just throw your own bash and bring in your own inexpensive caterers. I forget the name....anyone know? It's alot of work, but a really neat place. That is, of course, if you want a more casual wedding. It might look gorgeous in October!

Have you looked into more casual restaurants?

oooh, there's a boathouse in prospect park in brooklyn that looks GORGEOUS in pictures. not sure how many people it holds, but you bring in your own caterers. there was actually a spread on a wedding there in one of the bridal magazines at some point. maybe you could google it - i think it's the 'prospect park boathouse'.

I would look into restaurants..

Check out bizbash.com for venue listings.

Generally bringing in your own caterer costs a lot more money.

Try the American Legion Hall in Babylon off Montauk Hwy.

Did you check the Milleridge? A co-worker has a minimum of 75 people in the carriage house.

The farm in Queens is the Queens Country Farm. They have a pretty minimal site fee then you can bring in your caterer. I think it would be nice for an autumn wedding.

The Boathouse in Prospect Park is gorgeous but comes with a hefty site fee ($4000), so that might put it out of your budget.
