Am going to start really trying now...need some advcie

First we were just going to wing it until summer and see what happens, but now have decided to REALLY start trying, I made an appt for the OBGYN, so what do I need to ask, I knwo I need to start taking the vitamins, right? I am clueless, havent even used the ovulation kit, its all new to me. Im scared because Im 33 and dont know what my risks are..I guess I need to start doing my research, this seems like a great place to start though, you guys all seem so knowledgeable! It makes me laugh, you all helped me plan my wedding, now Im here for advice with having a baby!!!

Alicahelene, I am also 33 and we are just starting! I have a doctor's appointment on Tuesday. Do you have any medical issues? I have fibroids...so that will be one of my top concerns. We wanted to wait but, who knows how long it will take for us to conceive. Plus, we are not getting any younger. Yes, I too want to know how to prepare. I know about the vitamins....did anyone change their eating habits?

Hi Juju! I dont have any medical issues, I know that we are supposed to have enough folic acid in or bodies, i know I need to cut out the large amounts of caffeine I drink, but thats really all I know. My appt isnt until the 15th

I went to the Ob/GYN in the late fall, and she gave me prenatal vitamins, told me to cut out caffeine, any bad eating habits, maintain a healthy weight, and did an annual pap smear and exam. (ugh!),
I have been having some trouble lately with the pre natals and we are getting married in 3 weeks, and I should be taking them every day but missed it yesterday- the other nite they made me nauseous when I woke up in the middle of the nite.
Other then that , my OB/GYN told me to have fun!!!

You can start any multi=vitamin for women in the meantime. They all have the recommended amount of folic acid. When you go to the Dr., they'll either give you a prenatal vitamin, or tell you just to stick with whatever vitamin you are taking.

Probably a good idea to start cutting back on caffeine. Don't smoke. Take good care of your body and remain as stress free as possible. You should pick up Taking Charge of your Fertility (a book a lot of TTC'ers swear by), and start reading up on your body and how it works. You will be surprised how little you know!!!

Thanks!!! I dont smoke, Im a great weight and have very little stress ( Thank God), my problem is caffeine..I need it...Im gone until 11 two nights a week, it helps me make it through the night, hmm...this will be hard, but I can do it, I am taking a multi vitamin already, so Im in good shape! YEA!! The 12th is my big day, and I know my sister has that book, looks like I'll be borrowing it!!

Alicia!!! Yay!!!! I don't have any advice...but I'm going to the doctor today...we're not officially trying right now...but I'm going to ask them some questions because we do plan on trying soon!!!

I'll let you know what they tell me...
