Am I about to be scammed tonight?

Am I about to be scammed tonight?

I got a call from some woman last night who said that my name was drawn from a card that I had filled out at a Bridal Expo at the Milleridge a few weeks ago. She said that I won a few nights free vacation, some china and some discounts to their store. All I apparently have to do is show up and collect. I asked if their was anything that I had to do and she said NO. I asked if this was common and she said that they pick about 5% from each show.
I know my sister won a free Limo, but a vacation, china and more stuff? WOW!?!?

FH says its probably going to be a scam. Am I about to be scammed? Has anyone else heard anything like this?

I think I got something like this a while back. They told me that FH would have to be there with me in order for me to collect. I think I had to go to a location in Farmingdale or Huntington. I think they get you there so that they can try to sell you their stuff. They gave me a website to check out with their items, mostly kitchen stuff.

I never did get to go because my FH felt the same way as yours and refused to go!!!

YEA I GOT THAT AND I WENT, IT'S FOR AN HOUR AND A HALF OR TWO AND IT WAS AIGHT. YOU GET THE FREE DAYS BUT OF COURSE YOU HAVE TO KNOW WHERE YOUR GOING AND THEN YOU CAN MAIL THE STUFF IN BUT YOU HAVE TO DO IT LIKE 60 DAYS BEFORE YOUR TRAVEL DATE. I HAVEN'T FILLED OUT THE VACATION THING YET AND I THREW OUT THE THING TO SHOP IN THE STORE. LOL! IT'S NOT A SCAM THOUGH, I THOUGHT IT WAS AND MY FIANCE THOUGHT IT WOULD BE A WAIST OF TIME. BUT IT WAS ALRIGHT. WE JUST WANTED THE FREE VACATION.

Ok... really not sure cause they called back two seconds ago to confirm. Would a non reputable place call to confirm? It's not like I have a million other things that I could possible be doing on a Friday night (Sarcasm there... notice?) I think I am just going to go..... who knows what could happen. I keep you all posted :)

Be careful. Many times they get you sown there and make you sit through a sales pitch.

You might get all the stuff they're offering, but you have to go sit through a sales pitch about their 'fabulous' cookwear that is incredibly overpriced. And the vacation offer you get will have a large amount of restrictions on it. And they usually make the both of you go to listen to their presentation in order to be eligible.
IMO its so not worth it.

Remember, if it sounds too good to be true - it will be!

p.s. sorry to be lurking on your board!

Re: Am I about to be scammed tonight?

I've 'won' tis about half a dozen times already. And I've only ever gone to two bridal shows in the 19 mos I've been engaged, They called me a day r two ago and she got as far as

'I'm calling to congratualte you and your fiance because you have...'

when I said

'WE WON!?!?!??! For the 6th time! We are soo lucky'

and she said

'oh er..umm..I didn't realize you'd been called before'

me 'yuP'

it's not a 'Scam' per se, but you didn't win anything, they're just trying to get you in to look at their cookware. They do give you the vouchers that they promise, that much is true, so it may be worth a few hours of your time to get a cou0le of free hotel nights. let us know how it goes

Re: Am I about to be scammed tonight?

OK... so we went. Got there a half hour late (thankfully). It wasn't horrible. And you do win the trip and a gift certificate for $500 for an online catalog place. They have some ok stuff and some not so ok stuff. The sales pitch wasn't bad.... the cookware was really nice with great features (doesn't stick and it isn't teflon, doesn't drip down the sides, stacks together with the lid) but it was VERY pricey ($1700-$2000+ for the set). FH went home and found it on ebay for about $300, which is probably not in the box or something and probably doesn't have the warranty. The trip certificate doesn't expire for 6 months...and that, I believe, is just booking.... I don't have to go away during that 6 months. They have a bunch of places in the USA including Hawaii, Mississippi, Nevada, Utah(I think) and many places in Florida.

OVERALL.... getting three day/two night trip free..... WORTH THE TWO HOURS of sitting there listening to the sales pitch.

I got the same call. Funny thing is that I didn't even go to the bridal show. It's just a scam to get you to buy their products. I never called them back. They must have called me 5 times and emailed me 3.

I used to do those calls for extra money..I stopped doing it last month...
Ok here is the deal...Whenever you enter your name like, DAVID'S BRIDAL, on LIWEDDINGS, THE KNOT, BRIDAL SHOWS, they sell your names to make money
Heck I even got a call from my own company saying I was 'SELECTED' for a 'all inclusive trip' and a $500. gift certificate..
The trip is real but there is so much pain in the arse stuff you have to do noone really takes the trip...ever.
The $500. GC is bull because the prizes are cheap and not even worth it and you have to pay shipping on them
If you really want the vacation it is worth it to go but Don't buy anything!!!!!!!!!!!
Check the better business bureau on the company and you will see.
Just thought I would share and please don't hate me for making extra money for the wedding on this place

My FH and I won a free vaction from a china company. I had to sit though their demo, but that was it, I didn't buy anything. Check it out, and if they tell you have to pay for something to get your price, tell them 'no thank you,' and leave.

FH and I were 'selected' and went to a Royal
Prestige event - they do a demonstration of their products and cook for you (its really good) but their products are so expensive!!! We wentr we liked what we saw we thanked them for the food and we left with our free vacation and $500 gift certificate to some website (the trick is you have to use all $500 in one shot and it doesnt cover shipping and handling!)
