Am I behind??? update!!

To make a long story short I had a falling out with my mom and sister and have not talked to them in months. I'm getting married about a year from now but I have not started dress shopping yet. Is this ok??? I have been putting it off because well I cannot see not going for my first look without my mom. How long can I wait before it is too late??

UPDATE:I want to thank all of you for all your support!!! I sent my mom and email today and we are going to go look for a dress with her on Saturday. We haven't really talked about why we are angry at each other but I figure this might be a way to break the ice. I cannot thank all of you girls for all the advice you give!!!

i think you still have a few months..you just wanna make sure you have time you look around with out getting stressed if you dont find the perfect one right away...

I have tried talking to her. It just always ends up with her siding with my sister and telling me what a horrible person I am. I almost called off the wedding last week. I was so hurt. It is so hard because my sister manipulates my mom and does not see her for who she really is.

ughh i know this is probably hard...but dont let your mom win by you calling of your wedding!!! does your mom approve of FH & does she want this wedding to happen?? or do you think she is acting like this on purpose so maybe you do call it off??

maybe you should try talking to your sister instead of your mom, and tell her ...'listen, i almost called off my wedding because of you guys, i need some support..blah blah blah'

First, I'm sorry about your situation. I hope it all works out.

Depending on the dress, its usually about 9 months to come in. Then about a 1-2 for alterations. However, I know Davids Bridal is a lot faster, about 3-6months.

My sister was the one who started everything. She told me she wants nothing to do with my wedding. My mom loves FH. I am not sure why they are doing this. I feel like this whole thing just keeps bringing up everyones previous hurt feelings.

I am sorry about your fall out :(

I can totally understand wanting your mom there. I would say that you should prob start looking by april. My dress takes 10 months to make. I know others I tried take only 8 months but i would hate for you to fall in love with a dress that can't happen because of time :(

Sorry to hear about all the family drama...we are all here to support one another.....I hope that everything turns out for the best..

I'm sorry for all the drama you have to deal with, thats never fun. Hopefully they come around.

Each designer is different. I got a Maggie Sottero and my dress took five months to come in. I think you have some time, but I wouldn't wait much longer. At least search for things online and in magazines to get an idea of what you like.

My sister is agry at me, has not spoken to me in 2 years and now won;t let my nieces go to the wedding!
