so we're not having a champagne toast. when my mom gave a call to the RH(i never get a person, my work hours ****) they said we wont get any sort of credit or anything for not using their champagne. excuse me, but doesnt that cost them money? we dont want it, we're supplying our own drinks for the toast, so they wont have to purchase it, have it or even pour it. am i being unreasonable? i'm just surprised. wouldnt champagne for 180+ guests be worth something?

Re: am i being a bridezilla?
i actually asked a rh when i was looking around what the price difference bw full open bar and just beer/wine/soda would be..they told me 5 pp..so it doesnt surprise me that they wouldnt give you anything for champagne

i think so too! most RH use the cheapest bubblies that it wouldnt make any difference whether or not your using it... still, maybe you or FI could give them a call again & ask? sometimes bm's are nicer & easier to talk to if they know their dealing with the bride/groom.

Re: am i being a bridezilla?
we're supplying our own champagne and wine (b/c my mom & I are champagne snobs and my dad likes to think he is a wine connoisseur) and they didn't offer us a discount either. I don't think it really costs them that much per person.

nick and i dont drink so it doesnt mean anything to us. i've just read in so many magazines 'oh ask for such and such champagne and cut your costs by X amount' so i was just surprised when they were sh1tty to my mom on the phone about this among other things.

I don't know who these bridal mag's are talking about b/c all the stuff they suggest and advise for cost cutting or another issue is just stupid or reality irrelevant. so I wouldn't go by what they say LOL
I dont think ur a bridezilla. call again and talk to the BM in person - wouldn't hurt. and I too think this costs them almost nothing, plus they call it 'complimentary', so i am not sure if they will budge.

Re: am i being a bridezilla?
I think all those bride magazines are referring to wedding that aren't in the LI-NYC area.
Like - in other places, you can have a wedding w/ a cash bar only but I have never seen a place like that on LI.
Actually, for my brother's wedding in NH, they were going to do a cash bar and my parents were horrified so they paid for the alcohol (beer, wine & champagne) and the tab for liek 200 people was $2500 LOL
