My entire family are OOTers, and are all traveling to NYC for the first time. My brother and SIL have 3 daughters (all who are in the BP)- 7,4, and 2. My SIL wants to visit Manhattan on Saturday- the day before my wedding- and has asked my mom (MOTHER OF THE BRIDE) to babysit the kids for the day. And my mom ACCEPTED!
My mom tells me this information yesterday, and I told her I didn't think that was a good idea- since its the day before, and it will get hairy AND the rehearsal dinner will need to be set up and everything. She tells me stop being a bridezilla and doesn't think it will be a problem.
So my question.....am I being a Bridezilla because I want my mom with me on the day before my wedding, and to help make sure things run smoothly?

Re: Am I being a Bridezilla?
personally i dont see it as that big of a deal. the day before will probably be not too busy of a day, just dropping off placecards and such at the hall and then the rehearsal and dinner at night. i would let it go she's probably really looking forward to spending the day with her granddaughters especially since they live OOT. i would try to get most of the last minute stuff down early during the week, that way you can just relax the day before the wedding maybe go get a massage or sleep in or something.

Re: Am I being a Bridezilla?
i dont blame you for wanting your mom to be available to you the day before the wedding but at the same time i am sure she wants to spend time with your brother and her grandchildren. i doubt she will change her mind so your best bet may be to just remind her what you need her help with the day before the wedding and as long as she can handle it all dont try to stress over it. maybe she doesnt realize the help you need and when you spell it out for her she will change her mind.

i'd be very upset... i understand her wanting to see her grandchildren, but it's your last day as a single woman and she should want to spend it with you and no one else. i don't think you're being a bridezilla at all... your mom is going to need to help you the day before.

Re: Am I being a Bridezilla?
I'd be really pissed too. My mom had OOT guests asking to stay at her house and FH and I had to basically sit down and stage an intervention, explaining to her how obnoxious it is for people to request to stay at the MOB/MOG's house.
We want both our parents to stay the night with us at Oheka, so we can all have brunch the following morning, so we played that card....I hope she reconsiders...

Re: Am I being a Bridezilla?
me personally I would be very upset. I would talk to my mom about it or actually I would talk to my sister about it...tell her it's important to me that she spends the day with me...we'll make other arrangements etc.

Re: Am I being a Bridezilla?
I'd be upset, but at the same time, I know my mom is working the day before my wedding AND has her retirement lunch that afternoon....so I am barely going to see her
I'm not really upset- I figure it gives me some alone time to nap, get my stuff in order, etc without anyone bugging me

I agree too, BUT I completely understand why you are upset, and I would be too - though I know my friends would tell me not to worry

Re: Am I being a Bridezilla?
I understand why you would be upset, however it is still her grandchildren... I'm sure it'd be difficult to say no especially when she doesn't get to see them often.
