Am I being a bridezilla? Ring engraving problem
Hi everyone. So my fiancee and I went to Squires Jewlers for our wedding bands... we found what we wanted and loved the rings, perfect! Engraving was free so when we decided what we wanted in the rings we went back to have them engraved. We have a saying that we write or say to each other.. so what we wanted engraved was :
Me + You = Wii Fit .... They told us that the font would be all caps and that they may not have an equal sign so would a dash work instead, no problem. So it should be:
ME+YOU - WII FIT along with the date 10-23-11
.... and because of the space restrictions on my rings I was having them both engraved. My e-ring was to be:
ME+U - WII FIT and my wedding band would have 10-23-11.
We came back a couple hours later to pick up the rings. My FH's ring looked fine with one exception.. They wrote this:
ME-YOU-WII FIT which really changes the meaning to us. and the date 10-23-11 with the last 1 going almost into the 14k stamp (the saying should have been centered in between the 14k stamp and style number stamp.)
My wedding band had the date 10-23-11 however the last 1 ran over the indent inside the band!
My e-ring is what brought me to tears in the store. It said:
ME-U-WII FIT in which the entire letter T is engraved into the middle of the 14k stamp, making it look like a mistake instead of a clear T.
So, in essence I feel that we should have been called (we were asked to give them a cell number in case there were any problems) if they did not have the + sign to engrave (we would have put an N instead) and the fact that neither of the engravings were going to fit in the clear spaces of my rings!!! They offered to take it out and re-do the rings, but i would have to make the sayings shorter and there is still no + sign.. All in all I felt like they were telling me it was the best I was going to get and I should be fine with it. Should I be FINE with it? We'll probably be going somewhere else and paying out of pocket for engraving. Thanks for hearing me out.![]()
