I think FH has bought or is thinking about buying me diamond dangling heart earings. They are beautiful (i accidently saw a picture on the camera phone) , but I do not wear hearts and he would expect me to wear them on the wedding day. Do I break it down to him or suck it up?

If you're not going to wear it then I think he would appreciate you telling him instead of him spending the money on it and you not being happy.

I would definitely come out and tell him, especially if they are expensive. I'm sure he'd rather get you something you're going to love than something that will get tossed to the back of the jewelry box.

You'd better tell him before he spends the money. Maybe just mention 'I don't wear hearts' in some way so that it salvages his pride.
My FH bought me beautiful earrings for my bithday with the idea that I'd wear them on our wedding day. They're gorgeous, wonderfully made, and i wear them nearly every day, but they don't go with my ivory wedding dress at all, so I had t tell him that I couldn't wear them on our wedding day. I think he was unhappy, but he got over it.. I adore my man!

Re: Am I being a spoiled brat?
you can play it off and look thru his phone when he is around and then it's kind of his fault for leaving a picture in his phone... it's a tough situation... my FH bought me a necklace that I thought I really wanted and spent a lot of money on it and I had to tell him I wasn't happy with it and we went and exchanged it. I felt really bad, but if you are never going to wear it then you'll feel worse when he buys it and you're not happy with it.

I would re-think telling him. After all, it's a generous and sweet surprise from the heart... seldom would they be exactly what you would select. But the sentiment is priceless....
personally, I'd want the exact thing he selected.....

give him a hint that you don't like that specific style..and start telling him what you like and maybe show him a picture so he has some idea.

I have to agree with this. If my FH did something like this, I would love them because I know he put alot of thought into it, and it is the thought that counts afterall. Thats JMO.

The point is that she DOESN'T want the exact thing he selected, though!
If I were buying an expensive, yet heartfelt gift for FH, I would want to make sure it would be something he would truly love...and I am sure your FH wants the same for you. Drop a few hints about not really liking hearts, etc...and if that doesn't work, maybe someone else can do the dirty work for you (in a subtle way)

Re: Am I being a spoiled brat?
Tell him this story if you really don't want them: Oh, honey. This poor girl on LIW, her FH gave her a gift on/for their wedding but they were an earring she said she didn't like at all! She doens't like them, she doesn't know what to do? You would get a pretty good idea of what might happen. Or you could mention they are hearts and turn and say, babe, I don't like hearts either!
I would love to love what FH gave me, but then what is the point of hunting for the perfect jewelery to surround your face, in all your pics. GL, I hope you love what he gets you!

Re: Am I being a spoiled brat?
I would find a pair of earrings that you really love today and show them to him and say something like 'I'm thinking about these for the wedding. What do you think?' That way he'll buy the ones you want!! Don't settle for somethiing you don't like because I'm sure your FH would rather you be happy about his present, than 'settle' for it! HTH!

Re: Am I being a spoiled brat?
I'd tell him '...there was a girl on LIW who posted earrings shaped like hearts, pearls and chandelier...i voted for the chandelier cause it's my FAVORITE i need to start looking for some.' or something to that extent so he'd get a hint...maybe even emphasize how much you didn't like the heart shaped ones!
