Am I being really mean here?

Am I being really mean here?

FH has decided out of nowhere that he wants to ask one of his GM to be a second Best Man. Now the problems I see with the whole situation are:

1) the Best Man he already asked does not get along with the one he is about to ask.. I see alot of conflict here.

2) the GM he is about to ask is having his wedding 2 weeks before ours so he will not be around for most of the month leading up to the wedding.

3) this GM voiced how he is upset that he is not FH Best Man even though FH is not his Best Man and he waited almost a year to even ask him to be a GM.. I thought that was kinda messed up..

4) We already have an uneven amount on Girls to guys, me having one more girl than guy.. And since we planned on having the guys walk the girls down the isle now we are down 2 guys instead of just one since the Best men are supposed to wait with FH..

I told FH to really sit and think about it and maybe ask his already Best man is he minds before he asks the other one.. I dunno should i just leave well enough alone and just let him do whatever..

In the end, it is his decision, IMO.

However, I do agree with you, esp. since this guy was upset not to be BM, and he barely asked FH to be in his wedding. It's kind of rude!

Hopefully FH will decide to leave things as is!

I think your top 3 reasons are very rational...

You should tell your FH exactly what you posted here. Is he only asking him b/c the guy complained to him? If so, WORST reason ever.

I don't think you're being mean, just smart.

I think the Best Man is an honor position and I think your FH should think about that. But in the end I think it's his decision. I agree, tell him everything you posted here.

It does not make sense and seems like he is only asking him b/c he complained. I would try and convince FH to keep it as is.

I think he is only asking because he complained.. I told him just to tell him that he thought with his own upcoming wedding he felt it would be too much to ask of him. I dunno. #4 we could get around with having all the guys waiting up front but I just dont want to cause conflict with Best man # 1... The guy that has always been there for FH while the other one likes to disappear at times..

just in case you need to do it remember, the bm or men lol, don't have to wait with fh, i've been to plenty of ceremonies where the groom was alone and bm walked down the aisle with the moh~

one could stand with FH and one could walk with your MOH

I completely agree with you, In my opinion, it's a no-brainer, that guy shouldn't be his best man...especially since he doesn't have your FH as his best man and then he has the nerve to complain! But I guess there's a lot I don't know...and maybe there is a really good reason for him to be a best man so ultimately it's your FH's decision...but if I were you, i'd keep asking him for his reasoning behind his decision and if it isn't really a good reason, i'd probably try to persuade him to think otherwise...

it is his decision....you don't have to have an even amount of people....some walk with two some walk with one.....it will work itself out....

Re: Am I being really mean here?

I totally know what you mean!! Why are boys so indecisive?! Luckily I have a sister so it was no question that she would be my MOH but why do the boys have to change up the plans!?! FH has asked our mutual good friend to be the best man and I'm so glad because he is basically how we met and we've both known him since we were 5. But lately he's been saying that he wants our other friend to be a co-best man. We are already having one of his close friends do our ceremony I don't know...I know its not my decision but I worry that the guy he wants to ask will really not pull his weight! And it sounds like you are having that problem too! Especially since his own wedding is right before yours! I can't see him having your FH as a priority. I didn't even think of the odd numbers walking down the aisle... I hope it works out for you guys! Good luck!

Re: Am I being really mean here?

Now im really mad.. The 'best man to be' was supposed to hang out with FH tonight, i think FH was going to ask him to be the other BM too.. But of course like ALWAYS the guy stood him up.. No call... nothing.. Poor FH, this friend does this alot and then has an excuse everytime.. GRRRR.. Hes such a flake.. I dont know why FH feels he needs to be made a BM.. They did live together for a few years but Fh complained about him the entire time since he was inconsiderate... I dont know what goes on in the minds of men...
