Am I being ripped off?

Am I being ripped off?

I found my wedding dress last week. However, the salon no longer works with this designer so I would have to take the sample. They will be giving me 40% off. I'm trying to call a few other salons that carry this designer to see how much they sell this particular dress for. It has a few stains on it and needs some work (not obvious to me except for the stains). They said it would be fine they can get the stains out and fix any of the beading that needs fixing. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks!

What designer is it? There are websites out there that would definitely still carry the designer's gown. Otherwise, it's up to you. If the dress is really worth it, then get it. 40% off is a lot for a dress you're actually interested in. But then what happens if stain doesnt come out, etc.

I would get it if you really love it. My seamstress did a great job on with my dress, it had a small stain on it when it came in, it came out. I would ask the seamstress if she thinks she can get it out. I'm sure, it will look beautiful!

It's Rena Koh. I checked the website and I can't find a list of salons in the area that carry this designer. I wanted to have the store put on the receipt that if the stain does not come out then I want my deposit back. I wonder if they'll do that.... Thanks for the replies!

I also check house of brides and bridesave and they don't seem to carry this designer.

Ohhh I was going to say BrideSave. I'll try over the next couple of days and check that designer out. You could always contact the wholesaler. But, if you can get them to put that on the receipt then get it!

here is one in new jersey - worth a call just to know the price - i would just say you are checking they have the style and the price to make drive it worth while instead of saying you are comparing prices

Re: Am I being ripped off?

Thanks so much for the help, everyone! I called the place snowprincess mentioned and they don't have it. Apparently, they don't carry this designer anymore b/c they were having problems with the delivery (2nd time I heard this!). Thanks again, ladies!

Seriouslky, I would buy the sample, with the stipulation that they HAVE to get the stains out and fix it withina certian period of time before you will pay the fianl deposit. 40% off is wonderful!

Re: Am I being ripped off?

Thanks everyone! I think I may go for it if they'll stipulate that if the stain and any damage can not be fixed I get my money back and that the repair must be done within a certain amount of time so I have time to get a new dress if necessary. Thanks again for the advice and tips!
