this past weekend we gutted our bathroom with the help of our father in law. we laid new ceramic tile, new cabinets and counter top. both dh and I think it looks awesome. Well, we invited over dh brother to show hime becuase we were so excited and he takes one look and he nonchalantly says ' yeah, it looks nice ' and walks away. Mind you that whenever he does work on his place we go ga-ga over it and gush how awesome it looks- to make them feel good if nothing else. Dh of course thinks Im being crazy - and I hate that I care so much about what other people think but sometimes I do and it stinks, does anyone else get like this?

That stinks. Not a very nice way to respond, especially if he knows how much effort you put into it. even if it is not your taste, you can appreicate the work done.

Yes stuff like that does get to me real real bad! And I ask my FH if he can teach me to not care, b/c he does it so easily---I dont know how he does it?

I know what your saying...my SIL's do the same thing.
You know what?I think it's jealousy. Honestly, why else would you not appreciate your family member having something done that looks nice? Jealousy rears it's ugly head once again!
At least you don't have what I have...my SIL's will come over and tell us what they DON'T like about something we did. It's not like we asked for their opinion...just sharing our excitement.

The weirdest thing is I just cant see how he wouldnt like it -- its very neutral and classy. ( here I go again!! trying to justify this whole thing!!!!!!!)

You're not being silly, I would feel the same way. FH and I have spent our entire summer working on fixing our house and my sister didn't like our kitchen color (after we had already painted twice because we didn't like the first color.) It bothered me that she didn't like something we had worked hard on, but now everytime she's over she tells me how much the color is growing on her and she really likes it. When my FBIL and his FW came over one day I asked them if they wanted to see all of the work we had done. FBIL was like, yeah show me everything. His FW was like, maybe later. What a biatch!
