Am I being to pushy

Am I being to pushy

I got really excited when I found out my sister in law was getting married, and asked if my mom can attend with my husband and I to her wedding. My question is did I force my mom invitation to my sister in law wedding, forcing her to say yes?

I am very close with my mom. I am skeptical at this moment & time.

I think back to when I got married I was so excited, that I did not care who attended. I feel like I put my sis in law on the spot.?

The question is, does your sister in law have a good relationship with your Mom?

My sister forced her inlaws on us. We do not have a relationship with them and only see them when they happen to be at my sister's house.

But my parents are friends with them outside of family gatherings so in the end, my parents asked to invite them too, at their own 'friend' table.

as a bride to be, i would feel some pressure/take offense if someone asked me if they could bring so-and-so or if so-and-so would be invited. i don't mean to be mean, but it's my & my fi's wedding and we'll invite who we want. i mean, if my bil asked if he could bring a family member, i'd be very taken aback and annoyed. sorry.

I definitely see where you are coming from but I have to say I think I would be a litle offended as the bride being asked. . .

My FSIL forced her Inlaws on us. I have met them twice but gave me a guilt trip b/c she invited my parents... who she has met and partied with several times.

I was very annoyed to say the very least, but it was because I barely know them. I think it depends on the situation.

If you feel you put her on the spot, I would just talk to her and say 'hey I didn't mean to be pushy when I mentioned inviting my mom, I was just so excited to hear about your engagement... please don't feel obligated to invite her' or something like that...

Good luck!

gulp......

Well, the wedding is this Saturday and I am getting a 50 -50 response, but thank God!! It is only one person....my mom, who I suggested if she can come.

When I got married, I invited a whole slew...of people, and to me it was such a special happy day, that I wanted everyone to share who I was the most comfortable around me, who thought of me with their best interest.

Thanks Ladies....

I agree - only because someone did ask me to invite someone that I did not plan to....I eventually told her I could not do it.

Maybe your FH could talk to her to find out (it is his sister - right?)

I would let her know that I did not mean to force my mother on her and that its ok if she can't come. Since the wedding is this Saturday it would be bad to put the bride in a position where she is reshuffling her seating charts to make room for someone she did not plan in inviting, IMO.
