FILs are throwing our RD for us (their only contribution to date.) WELL FMIL recquested it not be the night b4 the wedding bc it may be too much for the kids (she caters ot her daughter and her 5 young children) I said ok I would like it that Wed. night though. She asked can we do the dinner the Saturday b4 so the kids won't be affected by it being on a weekday and won't keep...up all night. I have some BP members who work on weekends and theywill need to take additional time off which is not fair. I explained this to her and she barely responded. Seriously not EVERYTHIGN IS ABOUT FSILs KIDS!!!!!!!!

I hate situations like this! Say that you have some people that would not be able to go the week before and it is important to you that everyone is there! Besides, the kids could skip out early I'm sure
If you decide to do it the week before then that is not that bad. It will give you more time to relax before the big day!

ummmm can't FSIL find a babysitter for ONE NIGHT?! what about her husband? He doesn't HAVE to be at the RD (unless he's in the wedding as well...)

Here's the thing FSIL was an evil b&tch for the longest time ! And FBIL (whom I can't stand) basically stole from us, long story but stole a lot of money from us . Only reason FSIl is good now is bc FMIL finally put her in her place. Their little girl and littlest son are in the wedding FBIL and FSIl aren't in it! I tossed her out when she was awful to me!

ugh., thats hard b/c i guess you have to have the kids at the RD. But FBIL doesnt have to be there!
have FH deal with it... it shouldnt be your problem

I would have FH talk to them, I think doing it the weekend before has its ups but it also has a down side. THey can always leave early that night. I dont think you are being unreasonable at all

You are NOT being unreasonable. I think it should be whenever YOU AND FH want it- not her! It is not her day and therefor the RD is not for her. So no, you are completely justified in the way you are feeling.

Tell her you called the church, or wherever it is that you're having your rehersal and they can't do it on saturday. Tell her it has to be during the week!

melissa you are NOT being unreasonable!!!! i like the suggestion to tell her the church said they cant do it saturday!!!! the kids will just have to deal...too bad! and if its that big of a deal then bring them home early!!!

That is so frustrating.
Since our FGs are young, they are going to the rehearsal the night before and then they are going home and not coming to the dinner so they can rest! I thought that was a good idea.
