Am I being weird?

Am I being weird?

One of my friends from college is coming in from California. She wants to know whether she can overnight her dress for the wedding to my house so she doesn't have to take it on the plane. This means that I have to be around to sign for a FedEx package the week of my wedding and then be responsible for taking it to the hotel in Westchester the day before the wedding.

Am I being bridezilla-y for feeling like she's really imposing upon me at a time when I have a significant amount to do already??? My mother is wearing an actual ballgown to the wedding is bringing it with her on the plane. I'm sure there's not a bit of crinoline in my friend's dress that would keep her from being able to put it in a garment bag.

Keep in mind this is also the girl who refers to my wedding as 'walking the plank' and the one who called to ask if she could bring a guest to the wedding (she was not invited with one) who wasn't even her boyfriend -- it was some girl I sort of knew in college who is friends with her.

Um - why can't she fed ex the dress to the hotel? I have done this with my luggage before - they sign for it and hold it until I get there. I think she is asking a lot this week. Any other time I would be fine with it.

I would explain it just like you did to us. The week of the wedding will be way too hectic and you don't think you can take responsibility. Also, your mom is coming with her dress...it's no big deal.

People!!!!!! Arrhhhggghhhh!

can you offer a bridesmaid to help out...someone who can have it shipped to their home?

no, you are not being weird. seems like there is a lot involved with your friends dress and its the week of your wedding so you don't own anyone any favors. just play the bridezilla card, you've earned it!

IMO, like you said, she's imposing upon you at a time when you have a significant amount to do already.

If I were you, I would tell her what your mom is doing with her ball gown. Tell her that you're going to be in and out a lot between now and the wedding and that you can't wait around all day for Fed Ex.

Re: Am I being weird?

Okay I got another email from her saying that no, she didn't mean for me to bring the dress on Friday. She wants me to bring the dress AND the gift she's sending with me on Thursday when we meet for dinner. Why the gift? So she can put it on the gift table at the wedding ... Okay then.

I asked her to just send it to the hotel and she said that they would charge a lot of money to do that. I just called the hotel and they said that they do NOT charge to hold a package, so I sent her another email to let her know.

This is ridiculous! In my other email, I told her that even if I'm around to sign for a FedEx, it's a little silly for me to then get on a train with a gift and a dress which will have to be dragged all over NYC to my wedding appointments before I meet up with her. You'd think she was the one getting married for how worried she is about her dress!

I'm sorry you have to deal with this. I think you handled it very well. It's up to her to deal with it.

That's very annoying. No one should be asking you to lift a finger this week or in the days leading to your wedding - everyone should be doing YOU favors - not vis versa.

Just let her know that you have too much to do and too many appointments and stuff to be hanging around waiting for her dress.... You don't need the extra stress, so don't worry.... you're not being weird.

Has she ever heard of a garment bag? You know the ones that millions of people take on planes everyday. What is wrong with this person???????????????????

I really just can't believe some people. This girl has just gotten so much more self-absorbed since we graduated 4 years ago. Seriously, get a freakin' garment bag. Even my MOTHER isn't asking to ship her dress up here. And my mother is actually IN the wedding!

why can't she just buy a dress garment luggage bag, and bring it with her on the plane??

You are totally not being weird. She's got some nerve to ask so much of you during YOUR week.

Well, then thats too bad. She needs to come out of her Californian lifestyle and wake up to New York.......dont let her get away with her pushiness....thats one thing I cannot stand about someone, and that is someone being Pushy!!! Just tell her NO!!!! You just can't do it.....sorry.

You have went out of your way already to let her know of other options......

Just a thought........if you continue to worry about bringing all of her stuff the day you guys meet, theres a chance you just may forget something just as important of yours....and then you are really gonna be doing this:
