ok- here it goes- my wedding is booked for july 3, 2005. would i be crazy to move it to july 3, 2004? my site has the date available! also, my grandparents are extremely important to me and my grandfather is not doing very well and i really want him there to see me get married. i believe i could plan it in 5 months and my engagement party is booked for april 25, 2004. help- what do you think? also- b/c it is in a jewish center- having it on sat night means a 9:30 start time with the wedding ending after 3 in the morning. if i keep it in 2005, it is on a sunday from 6-12 on a 3 day weekend. lots to consider- advice???
ok- so i spoke to my mom and she is against moving the wedding to this year b/c she does not think it is enough time to plan everything- so we are sticking with july3, 2005- and i will just be a great granddaughter and visit my grandparents more often and call more often too. thanks guys for all of your input. btw- the late start time is because of the sabbath- that is why many synagogues have openings in the summer on saturdays b/c people don't want to start so late!! so 2005 it is!!!!!

Re: am i crazy????
my first gut reaction was to say yes - you can definitely move it.
however, reading the rest of your post - having a wedding go until 3am may not be the best plan. if that is the only time you can get for the 2004 date, then i would stick with 2005.

Re: am i crazy????
you could definetly plan a wedding in 6 months. i'd say go for it. why is the start time 9:30, can that be changed? if not, you might want to reconsider. but then again, if your grandpa is ill it might be best to have it this year.
how about finding another site?

It sounds like you are already leaning towards moving the date, so I say go for it! You know your own ability to plan and you sound confident that you can get it done. Good luck and best wishes...

Since you have the option, I would move it up. I've been to plenty of weddings that didn't end until 3 or 4 or even 5 in the morning, and people stayed...not everyone, of course, but some. I think having your grandfather there is the most important thing.

Think of what is important...if you are worried about your grandfathers help and want him there then move it up.

Not only do I think that 3am is way too late to end a party, but I think 10ish is too late to eat dinner!!

Re: am i crazy????
My grandparents mean the WORLD to me and I would be crushed if they could not be there on my wedding day. So if I were in your position, I would change it in a minute. Is this the norm for Jewish weddings held on a Saturday..to run so late?

Re: am i crazy????
You are not crazy. I wish my grandparents could have seen me get married. 9:30 to 3:00 is on a Saturday night of a 3 day weekend. NO Big Deal! My thing is GO FOR IT!!!!!!!

I agree to move it up. It can definetly be done. And if God forbid something happened to your grandfather before your wedding in 2005, you would forever say to yourself what if. I wish my grandfather could see me on my wedding day. I am all for it. 3 am end time? Go for it. Everyone's favor can be bagels and the paper. And in reference to a 10:30 start, tell everyone to eat a little something before hand

What about doing it the next night? Do it July 4 this year.

Re: am i crazy????
I say go for it...I would give anything to have my granparents at my wedding. Before you cancel the 2005 date, call around to make such other vendors are available.
Good Luck!!!

Re: am i crazy????
It could definitely go either way. Since its on a Saturday, a late night wouldn't be too bad. The only problem would be maybe travel on Sunday July 4, but I can't imagine it being that bad. I know you want your grandparents to be there and if you can swing it with the planning, why not?

Re: am i crazy????
In the Jewish religion, we cannot get married on the Jewish Sabbath on Saturday. We have to wait until the holiday ends and in the summer with the late sunsets, it ends later.

You can always get married this year to have your grandfather and keep your reception and do a vow renewal next year.
