the market is going to keep at this HORRIBLE rate and only get worse. If you can hold off - i'd do it. The market has NOT YET hit rock bottom.

There are 3 most stressful times in a person's life...

1. Planning a wedding
2. having a baby
3. buying a house

can you MENTALLY handle 2 of the three? I know we were looking at 2 & 3 and decided it was too much for us...but you need to figure out if you can do it.

We were told by numerous reliable sources that the housing market is virtually close to rock bottom and that prices wont go much lower (at least in the areas of easter suffolk that we are looking in). I think we are going to go for it! Now I am a BUNDLE of nerves!

Yes, it pretty much has hit rock bottom. There are some GREAT opportunities out there for buyers right now! Yay - go for it!! All the stress will be worth it! FH is a Mortgage Banker, so FM if you have any questions. He just did our mortgage and we got a pretty great rate considering the economy. Just a heads up though, they want documentation of EVERYTHING! You mentioned some credit card debt. You might be forced to drop the balances on those if it effects your debt-to-income ratio. If you have any questions, I'm here! I've been through this so I can help you out!

If you have found a house you're in love with- you can always take out a loan. When you get $ for your wedding, you'll be able to pay back a big chunk of that loan. Try and estimate how much you think you'll get and see if it's worth it.

We're all gonna be in debt for the next 5 years anyway- it happens. Hopefully you'll be able to pay it off in the future.

JMO, but if you need to take out a personal loan in order to pay off your bills to buy a house... that should be the first sign that you aren't ready. You would just be digging yourself into a life of debt.

Wow that is great that you found something that you love!!! It is also a big decision....do you feel financially you will able to deal with it at this point in time. I don't know your situation at all so please don't take offense to that. I just know now this wedding is a huge expense for us as much as we would love to look at a house we have nothing to put down on one or any reserves for that matter should something go wrong. I envy all the girls on here who are buying houses and getting married I need to know how you do it! We have nothing left from this wedding :(

FH and I have stopped going on vacations, stopped eating out.. basically stopped spending money. FH makes good money and I make decent money, so between the two of us, we are making this work. I never said it was easy, though. It is really freakin stressful and it's hard to balance the wedding and house, but I always think... Everything will work itself out in the end. Even if we have some tough financial times.

Sit down with him and figure out a financal plan - maybe meet with a financial planner and see what you can do - i think its worth trying to see if its feasable!
