Am I crazy??

Am I crazy??

Ok I know I am alittle already lol but FH thinks I have lost my mind because I want to book all our vendors already. We are paying for everything ourselves (my mom is giving us a little help & offered to buy my dress) and we are not having a small wedding. We have RH, photographer/videographer, and will sign contract with DJ next week. FH thinks we should hold off on florist & limos for a few months. I think we should book as soon as possible so we know how much everything will cost us and we can budget right. What are your opinions??did you ladies book everything well in advance or hold off on some things??

No, you are not crazy. I did flowers right away bc I needed to know what they were going to cost me. I called around to Limo companies to get quotes but have not booked yet. IMO you can wait unless you want a specific classic/high end car.

You should also look into invites and all of your stationary needs. Paper can be costly!

I booked everything so far (except the limo) far in advance. The only reason we didn't book the limo yet is because we're unsure we really need one.

We're paying for the whole wedding too, which is why I wanted to book upfront as well (that and to make sure we get the vendors we wanted!). So from a budgeting perspective I think it's a good idea.

My FH felt the same way as yours, but I explained how important it was for me to not miss out on a particular vendor, and he let me drag him around LI for 2 days jumping from appointment to appointment until we found the people we liked! (We're from out of town too, so that makes it a little harder for us). I would just try to talk to him about it again and tell him how important it is to you.

Not at all!! We just finished booking all of our vendors. Some people say I'm crazy and we still have so long but honestly i think its smart to get everything booked. We're paying for our wedding ourselves too so it was really important to us to get good prices on everything, also you need to know how much you are spending. We have our budget set for each vendor and i wanted to be sure i could get all of our vendors for the budget we alloted. We know exactly how much..give or take.. we need to save now. Tell him in the end it will help you save money. FH's love to hear that

I think you need to settle your budget before you book anything and then decide which aspects of the wedding are most important to you.

Always start with the guest list, the larger the guest list the most expensive EVERYTHING will be.

I have a really really detailed budget (also paying for the wedding on our own) and would be happy to send it along if you wanted.

Just FM me for details if you want. HTH :)

FH and I are also the ones paying for the wedding. We both agreed that we just book everyone right away so we know how much we should be spending. You are not crazy you are being smart.

The guest list was the first thing we cut down & even with that we are thinking max is 180 guests-FH has alot of aunts, uncles, & cousins. I definitely booked the most important first which was photos/video & DJ. I have left florist & limos for last because I figure I can deal if I don't get exactly what I what with those depending on my budget.

One of the reasons FH thinks I'm nuts is because I have excel spreadsheets for everything I am very detail oriented when it comes to things lol. It's good to hear I am not the only one

Re: Am I crazy??

you're definitely not crazy.. FH and I are planning from out of state so once we started to get full-swing into the planning and making trips to LI, I really wanted to get most of the vendors out of the way so I didn't have to worry about it later on. I'm really glad we did because it's a lot of stuff that's out of the way and we can focus on payments. Plus it's not like there's not going to be stuff to do later on; closer to the wedding you get to finalize the flower colors and types, song lists for the djs, etc.

Definitely not crazy! The only thing I'd suggest is doing the flowers around your 1 year mark so you can see what will be cheap and in season!

Re: Am I crazy??

no i dont think your crazy. it's better to book your vendors early especially if you have your heart set on one specific one. The good ones always book fast so the sooner you book the better. The only big vendors I have left to book are limos and florists. Other than that all major vendors are booked.

Your totally not crazy! I'm a 2013er and i have my RH and DJ booked already. My friend is a florist so that is done and we're now on the photo/video hunt! It doesnt hurt to go out and get quotes without booking either!

I did hear from a limo company that you should wait for that, only because certain cars styles change etc...but you can still get a quote!

Were paying for everything too, for a large wedding so it totally helps when it comes to budgeting!

You're def. not crazy at all. I'm a Sept 2012 bride and I got engaged in November and had my Church, RH, Photographer and Videographer booked in February & I booked my DJ in March. I also just booked limos in June.

Flowers and my dress are on the list next!

I booked everything as soon as I could because FH and I wanted to make sure we got the vendors we wanted.
