Am I crazy for considering cancun?

Am I crazy for considering cancun?

So I still have to book a honeymoon.

Am I crazy for considering Cancun? I can get an amazing deal for $2500 for 7 nights at an all-inclusive(air included) for the two of us.

The thing is, the hotel says that it will re-open from the hurricanes 2/1 (how accurate is this?) and it will also be spring break.

Am I taking a chance? Opinions please.....

Is the hotel in Cancun proper? B/c I think that's during Spring Break (not sure). If it is, I would avoid Cancun itself, although there are a lot of inexpensive hotels that look nice in Riviera Maya. Which hotel?

The hotel is The Grand Oasis Riviera Maya.

See if they have a 'no spring breakers' policy, although Cancun itself may be crowded with them...

check www.tripadvisor.com for real reviews and photos... HTH

FI and I went there before we were engaged and stayed at a really nice place called The Grand Caribe Real.We loved it. We saw some honeymooners, and it was also spring break. It wasn't wild at all.Good Luck in your search.

You're not crazy, we'll be in that area for our HM, but 20 minutes south of Cancun proper.

I stayed in their sister hotel, the Oasis Cancun Playa, and it was really nice and more full of adults than kids when I went. (This was late June after school was out.)

The Grand Oasis is supposed to be a lot better, and it's a little more central in the hotel zone. If I remember correctly, they also have a nightclub in the hotel. They used to have foam parties there, I don't know if they still do that.

Somehow, I don't think there will be as many spring breakers there as in the past. A lot of the hotels are enforcing the 'no one under 18' policy and not allowing spring breakers.

A good site to check for info is www.locogringo.com.

Hope this helps!!

ummmm I went there three years ago with a bunch of friends.. it really is a party place... I am sure there are beautiful resorts though that are quiet... there's not much to see either unless you just want to relax......

let the travel agent know exactly what you want...

Yes, We stayed at the Oasis Playa, i went there with my FI but we were just dating then. It was really nice, loved everything about the hotel. NO!!!! Spring breakers either and we went in the last week in July and first week in AUg. WE were aloud to use all 3 hotels The Oasis and the Grand Oasis, we ate and drank at them both it was fun, we had so many resturants to choose from. We just went by ourselves to and it was so much fun!!!!

We stayed there too and loved it, it's now the Riu Caribe. I've also stayed at the Hyatt Casamagna and had a wonderful time.

My friend from work went down there to the Cancun/Riviera Maya right after the hurricane on a family trip and said things were ok. Most of the restaurants and stuff were closed back then. You figure most of the economy down there is tourism so they are in a rush to get things open.

Re: Am I crazy for considering cancun?

I'd probably worry more about being on vacation w/ spring breakers than worrying if the hotel will be ready in time.

I would choose a hotel that has an 'adult' policy, b/c the last thing you want on your HM is to hear loud, obnoxious, drunk 20 year olds annoying the hell out of you on your romantic vacation..........

It may be a great deal...but in a situation like this, you get what you pay for. I'd look into it more........Cancun really isnt that expensive.

ETA: We also stayed at the Gran Caribe Real (now the RIU)--and the hotel was GREAT--absolutely beautiful!!
