Am I doing too much too soon?
So in the last month, I've booked my venue, church and band. I want to start calling photographers this week and I registered for January 2013 Pre-Cana even though my wedding is in July 2014 and I originally wanted a September 2013 session but FH asked me to push it back because he'll have just started school by then. FH thinks I'm nuts for registering for Pre-Cana so early and some other people think I'm rushing through everything. But I'm really just excited and feel like the more I can accomplish earlier on, the more relaxed I can be later on when the date draws closer!Back me up 2014 ladies! Who else is being an overly enthusiastic bride?

ME!!! So I think you're good lol! The way I see it, if you get the big vendors out of the way, you'll be sure to get whoever you want at lower prices then if you book later. Also, at least for me, next summer will be filled with more of the details like do it yourself projects, hotel blocks, and dresses. I wouldn't want to worry about checking out major vendors on top of all that!

I'm totally enthusiastic! We've booked...Church
Venue
DJ
Photographer
Videographer
...and you get first choice for everything! :) And my best friend just got married and they did Pre-Cana the week before their wedding. I'd rather do it earlier and get it over with. It's YOUR wedding...do whatever makes you happy!

Re: Am I doing too much too soon?
I am a 2013 bride and believe me the earlier you book the things you really want the better. It will give you more time to budget and more time to relax. People thought I was crazy for booking quickly but I never had to not book something due to the date being booked already. The early bird gets the worm! Once you have all the big stuff then you can enjoy everything soooo much more :) Good Luck with everything and you should be excited!!

We booked the Church, Hall, Photographer and we are going to be booking the Dj by September. The only reason we haven't booked the Videographer is because he won't book that far in advance lol so I'm waiting on him or that'd be done as well. We are starting precana in the fall, I agree I rather get it done early and not have to worry about it and be able to relax and not stress! Nothing wrong with getting a head start plus like everyone said you get you first choice for everything bc you book early, and sometimes get the previous years prices!

no it's better to book things and get them out of the way! plus you can pay them slowly over time instead of all this money at once.

I'm a 2013 bride and believe me, its better to book early! I got engaged in nov 2012 and started looking for venues in december..and THAT early, I was still limited on my june or july wedding dates..I definitely think you should get the big stuff done as early as possible..especially when you have to make sure the vendors have your date available. I just finished ordering my invitations and everyone kept saying how early I was..but I just kept saying, well the date and location and time and all the info on the invite isn't going to change..so why not do it now while I'm home for the summer? (I'm a teacher)either way, you do what's good for you and don't worry about what other people say.

Am I doing too much too soon?
I'm a 2013 bride and I had my vendors booked a year and a half before!! I wasn't the first one, either. I JUST booked my florist because I didn't want to be crazy with that vendor, and I almost didn't get the girl I wanted!!!

Thanks for the support, ladies! I'm usually the most laid-back person, so I think FH is a little daunted by my sudden Type A personality.

And that's an excellent point about the prices, so anytime he thinks I'm going nuts, I'll just remind him of that!

My family thinks I am crazy for booking two years in advance as well! They keep saying that we need to wait, but I don't want to wait. We booked the reception hall and we are working on DJ/Band and photographer now.

We booked photographer, videographer and booked engagement party. The day of e-party booking we ordered invites. Our whole guest list is basically made.
