I don't know if it's due to PMS or what, but for the past few days I have been feeling kind of down about the wedding. NOt about getting married or my FH, but mostly about how people have responded, or more to the point, their lack of response.
No one has really said or done anything, even though over the past 10 years people have had A LOT to say about when THEY thought it should be coming....
I mean, FH's mom has not even acknowledged to me that she knows I am marrying her son!!! ( I see her almost every day!!!) I'm not having an e-party or anything like that....
I guess it just seems so anti-climactic. maybe as time draws near...I just thought people would be more excited for us or at least interested in our plans.
anyway, I'm just venting... I wish they had a sign for PMS LOL

Re: Am I expecting too much- vent (long)
Unless I'm in vendor-research mode - or crazy planning mode - no one in my world seems overly anxious about it either. It bothered me at first - but then I wrote it off to the fact that it's still so far away (and I've been engaged for over a year already - so last year it was completely anti-climactic since we weren't even trying to set a date). As the one-year mark draws closer, I can sense people taking more of an interest in it.
As for my FMIL, she doesn't get what goes into the planning - so I can't expect her to go crazy. She's interested and all, but nothing like my mom. Plus. FIL's live in Florida, so I think she kind of feels like there isn't much she can do from this distance anyway.
In short - I think what you're experiencing is normal, and it should change as the months pass. Chin up!!!

I wouldn't worry. People get excited at different times. My parents took several weeks to really get excited and it made me really mad. We aren't having an e-party either, and at times I do wish I was having one because people would be excited. I just mailed my STDs and that made me excited.

I feel the same- FH's dad has barely acknowledged our engagement. And my best friend did not even send a card!

Don't feel bad I am not having an e-party either. As for FMIL she has not mentioned anything about the wedding except that she doesn't understand why we don't want kids at the wedding and gave us a hard time about it. MY FH Step father has not said one thing about hte wedding except that h e told My FH just cuz ou have a child together doesn't mean you have to get married I was hurt by that and flipped out on my FH. None of my inlaws have had anything to say to me about the wedding. My family is very excited about it and his could care less they will ask him about prices about things and then complain about them but they aren't paying for it so I don't see why they need to complain.
ITs n ot jsut your Inlaws.

Don't let anyone stress you (I know it's easier said than done). Planning a wedding is stressful enough. Sometimes it feels I'm the only one that's excited too. People sometimes comment, 'Oh you have so much time why are you doing all of this already'. Ummm...time goes fast and you have to book things now. As long as you and your FI are excited that's all that matters.

Re: Am I expecting too much- vent (long)
I went thru the SAME feelings right after FH and I booked our hall. We happen to go out to dinner the day we signed with FH's parents, gramma, sister, brother and sister-in-law. And I asked FH to tell his family that we booked the hall. So he told them 'We booked the hall and set the date'....NO RESPONSE.
Then he says 'Yeah, June 29.....it's a Thursday....' NO RESPONSE!!
I was devastated. I felt like no one cared.
Not sure WHY! there was no reaction.
But this past weekend I told FH's sister and sister in law to keep a specific date and time avail to look at dresses, and they were both so excited!! Made me feel so good.

I actually feel the same way at times. I feel like no one cares and then I talk to my MOH and I feel happy again. I guess we all go through it at different times.
