Okay so a bunch of us go out for my brothers birthday on Sat night. We go to this club and I swear to you, I felt so out of place!! I used to love the club scene.. the music.. the alcohol.. the people--everyone just dancing drinking and having a great time. Now I go to these places which at a point in my life I used to go every week and Im just aggitated with the whole 'scene'. These places are just soooo overcrowded.. the drink prices are out of control.. Whose knocking into who on the dance floor.. its just so overcrowded & I get bored so quick!!! Am I getting old?? Does anyone feel this same way??
Something I wonder because, Im just not into the scene anymore. Going out used to excite me. Now?? OMG!! I think I have become so domesticated I get excited just walking into Fortunoff. Oh yes & LIW !!!! Is this cause for some serious medical attention?

Re: Am I getting Old?
Sadly, I have to agree! I used to love going out all the time and now, I'm fine if we get together at someone's house or go out for dinner and drinks. Every so often I'll meet my single friends out for drinks and dancing, but no, it's just not the same. I don't like to think of it as getting old as it's more of us moving on!

Yes... this is so true!! I remember having such a great time at clubs/bars, but now I just get so irritated becuase of too many people pushing and shoving... Now I like going to bars but the ones that are not super crowded....

Re: Am I getting Old?
Your not alone trust me I feel the same way. I use to love the c lub scene and now when I go out I am just like Ok I am ready to go home. I am more now into the bar and lounge scene then going to a club. I really don't go out that much anymore. Actually this weekend I went to my FH bar they had a dj and Karaoke (sp?) and I was just not into it. I like to go to a place that you can actually sit and have a few drinks and be able to talk to your friends. I feel like I have become an old maid that motherhood has taken control. I went to target yesterday and was in my glory they had so many great things on sale.

You aren't old, your tastes are simply more sophisticated.

Definitely not alone, same here, I much rather stay home or go to a nice lounge instead of clubbing. Been there, done that, have the T-Shirt.

Sounds old! Sad but true. I enjoy a bottle of wine with friends along with a game of scattagories.

Re: Am I getting Old?
I know EXACTLY how you feel - I'm only 24 years old!
I literally used to dominate the club scene - when I was 16 years old no less! I was a promoter too - for most of the hottest places in NYC!
SOOOOO...don't worry, you're not getting OLD!
I can't stand the thought of paying $30 to get into a club (after the age of 21, they just shouldn't charge!), I can't stand the thought of paying more than $6 for a drink, getting pushed on the dance floor, on the stairs, waiting hours for a bathroom where some youngling is puking her brains out!

Re: Am I getting Old?
I was never into the club scene, so I dunno what that says about me. But I don't think it's that you're getting old rather that the idea of going clubbing itself is getting old. You're maturing and moving on, there's nothing there that interests you anymore.
Yea, I'll take a night of sitting on the couch in my PJs with a big bowl of popcorn and a good movie to watch with my FH over a club anytime!!

Re: Am I getting Old?
I haven't gone to a club in years -- I'm 34 and totally not into that scene. If me and FH want to go out and have a drink, we'll go to someplace like the Brickhouse and hear a live band, eat a burger, and have one of their homemade brews!

Re: Am I getting Old?
I still enjoy a night out every once in a while. It's a pain to do it as often as I used to and I don't stay out all night anymore, but I still like to dance and it's a fun way to get out with my friends. But that only happens once every couple of months.

I totally understand where you are coming from....that one time a year when we decide to go out to a club, I feel so out of the loop. Been there done that and wouldn't go back to it for anything!!!!

I can totally relate....I have not been to a club in years. I think the whole club/bar scene is just a phase you grow out of.

Re: Am I getting Old?
I still like the club scene, but very limited...once and a while. Last Saturday FH and I went out in DC with a college friend, and we left the bars when they got too crowded and noisy. The best time was when we went to this Eithopian restaurant and bought a bottle of honey wine. It was comfortable, and quiet enough so we coud sit around and talk!

Re: Am I getting Old?
Yep..we all are! The worst is when they play a song on the radio and the DJ says its a 'old school' song or vintage or somehting like that and it was a song that I loved in junior high ot high school and I can't believe how fast the time has gone bye.
