am i insane

Ok i want a winter wonderland theme for my ballroom - so i want to have white chair covers with a light blue shimmery sash, a shimmery blue overlay, ilver candelabras- i don't mind paying for htis stuff

so i find out the Bourne uses gold chargers and plates with gold - so now i would have to rent plates and chargers that are silver

i really hate gold and i am starting to hate the bourne because of the all the gold

is it insane to rent all this stuff to get rid of the gold and have my theme or should i modify my color scheme for the ballroom

hmm thats a tough one. It really depends on how much you really want to go with that particular theme. If you can afford to rent all the stuff and its really important to you then go for it. If its not important or you would force yourself into major debt then it is definitely not worth it.

I don't think you're insane. If it's what you really want and can swing it financially, then go for it.

You could take out the blue and do a combo of silver and gold, that would look wintery and festive....

is it just the dishes that are gold?

I would add very light flecks of gold to the centerpieces to compliment the dishes. Your theme will still clearly be blue and silver.

Did you look into pricing rentals?

eTA: No, you are not insane.

It all comes down to money. If you can do it go for it, You have a certain vision of your wedding and you are entitled to it.

I definetly dont think your insane and if you can afford it go for it but if not. The white chair covers will cover the gold if you get solid covers. If everything else has a wintery theme I don't think anyone will realize the gold trimmed plates really.

I'd say if you can afford it, then go for it! It is your 'special' day so why not make it perfect? If not, you know those gold plates will start to irritate you the day of the reception!

If you can afford it go for it. If not you can always still do the winter theme with red and gold instead of blue and silver.

I agree with everyone else. If you can afford it, go for it! However, I don't think most people will notice the gold ones. Gold is also a wintery color and shouldn't clash with your theme. I am also hoping to have a similar theme at my wedding next year. Good luck!!

i have the money - thanks to my dad but i feel bad spending so much on one day is part of the problem -

i just hate gold and everytime i go to see the mansion there seems to be more - i am really thinking of moving the location of my wedding - i even called oheka for open saturdays

Perhaps the venue will look much different once it is all decorated and filled with guests. Sometimes its hard to imagine the big picture and how its all going to come together.

You definitely aren't insane. Do what will make you enjoy your day the most.

No...your not insane. I don't know whether you priced out this stuff, but renting those things gets really expensive. I had custom linens. The napkins were $3 each napkin. So that was $800 in napkins!!! So I can't imagine how much they would charge for the plates (which would need to be dinner plate, bread plate, salad plate, and dessert plate).

I dont think you are insane. I had fall theme wedding at the Bourne and my MOH's dress was gold - so I played up the whole gold thing. IMO & from my memory the Bourne does have a lot of gold accents - but again it might be because I emphasizing it that I noticed it more.

If money is no option, go for it....But there are gold undertones in the ballroom. You may want to at least think about incorporating gold into your scheme.

If you do wind up renting everything under the sun, IMO, it's just another thing for you to worry about - hoping it all comes in, set up properly, etc....Then you have to also worry about returning all of it on time, etc....
