if i want to make my own place cards, menus and programs? i am pretty crafty but i am also a perfectionist and am afraid i wont be able to take everything look professional- i dont want it to look home made.

Not nuts, as long as you have the time!! I am doing the same, with the help from my graphic-designer FBIL. I took off the whole summer so I can do them (well, everything but the invites, of course...those are already done!).

You are absolutely not nuts. I did all my own DIY and although time consuming, it was a labor of love. Pictures in my album under our wedding

Definitely not! I think it gives your day a more personal touch. We're doing our place cards, table numbers and guestbook frame on our own as well

I don't think it is nuts. My only advice is to start these DIY items early, you do not want to be doing too much DIY a couple weeks before the wedding. I made my own escort cards and favor tags. While I loved them, I hated that I was up late at night working on these the week before the wedding.
