I'm really trying not to live up the whole 'bridezilla' thing & really don't feel like it at all..probably because my wedding is so far away & I have a while to get all crazy but I am planning alot early for financial reasons..I need some other bride's input on this..am I being psycho?? haha...
My best friend of almost 3 years was more than eccastic when we got engaged. Could not wait for wedding planning, shopping etc...I didnt waste anytime & began my dress shopping right after we got engaged. I invited her on 3 occasions or more to come dress shopping with me, then even see me try on my dress before I ordered it & everytime there was a different excuse. Believe me, I know we all work alot & are tired but then to find out she was at her bf's & went out with his friends pissed me off because she had such bad cramps she couldn't come with me! Last, I invited her to come to my showcase last month and again was given an excuse...I let it all go & tried not to let it bother me...until yesturday..She is in another friend's bridal party & is actually her maid of honor which is random because, in the 3 years I know her they rarely saw eachother & spoke that can remember...(our bf's were roomates at the time & we were constantly together). But that's not for me to judge, it was just odd to me...she went to her showcase, & has met with her to plan things & was all crazy excited about going shopping with her & taking pictures & my heart just sank. How could you be my best friend & not want to share in this with me?? I am so hurt....I know she IS her maid of honor & has more of a 'responsibility' in her wedding but I'm not the only one that has said that it is odd because they weren't that close..I didnt know how to keep answering her as she would text me the play by play of her dress shopping..I really wanted to tell her 'are u kidding me??' but I sent a text saying 'I'm glad you were there with her when she foud her dress!'...I'm probably being a baby but this just really hurt me & I feel like now the excitement she had for me is taking a back seat ....should I outright say something to her or continue to just let it go?..thanks

I would feel the same way. I think you should talk to her and let her know how you feel. Just tell her you hope that she will be there for you and be a little more involved in the planning process. Do you think maybe she thought she would be your MOH and is insulted that she's not and that's why she's acting this way?

Yes I would definately try to talk to her and not in a defensive or angry way I would first try to find out if something happened. And let her know your feeling hurt and your not clear whats going on. I would just be honest with her. Maybe like the person prior to me posted, she is insulted you didnt ask her to be your MOH? I dont know. Maybe something else went on that you didnt realize. But I would def talk to her because that resentment is only going to get worse.
And I can TOTALLY relate to how your feeling because my bf who actually IS my MOH has done a 360 since she became my MOH. I feel like I dont even know who she is anymore and I sometimes regret asking her to be quite honest. She started off amazing, she cried when I got engaged. She was ecstatic for me and was thrilled when I asked her to be my MOH, but slowly I started to see so much jealousy and then all she started complaining TO ME how this is such an expense for her (PS Ive done EVERYTHING I COULD POSSIBLY DO to NOT make people go nuts with spending money. I am SOO FAR FROM A BRIDEZILLA!) And then the topper was her behavior when it came time for my bachelorette party and I can honestly say I havent fully forgiven her. I tried to talk to her on more than one occassion and I get BS answers from her. And if you can imagine the one person I thought WOULDNT be into this whole thing has proved to be a better friend to me during this time then she ever could. Im actually appalled at my MOH's behavior lately but its too late to do anything.
So take some relief in knowing your not alone in the way you feel. I think from time to time in good times MORE than bad, you tend to find out who your REAL friends are. =/ Unfortunately it just hurts to realize you may have felt closer to someone than they did to you =/

I would be upset too....try to talk to her and ask her if something is going on that she wants you to know about. Maybe she is just upset that two of her good friends are getting married and she isn't ....maybe like the PP said, she is upset that she wasn't your MOH (you had stated that she is your BF of 3 years). You won't know until you speak to her....and if she denies that anything is wrong but continues to act like that then that tells you something too

Re: am I overreacting.???...
Thanks you all so much :) I really appreciate it. I have a sister & she is obviously going to be my MOH..
she wouldn't keep anything to herself if it was bothering her trust me..but I see what all you girls are saying. Not that it's jealousy, or maybe it is a little but not in a deliberate way, but its horrible that the people that you think are close to you can turn on you when this is supposed to be the happiest time of our lives.
We talk everyday all day when possible of course, texting & on the phone a few times a week & everything seems fine so this is just strange. As I stated we were dating roomates & her bf treated her like total crap. I helped her through it all & she finally broke up with him. She is now with someone else that I am so happy for her but she is with him 24/7 he is so good to her so I have nothing to say. but it's maybe she was using me to fill what she didn't have in her relationship with her ex & now she doesn't need me as much.
I dunno all I can say is that I have gone through so many different gf's in my life that I put so much into our friendships & I always get treated like garbage in the end...when it comes down to it I am thankful for my fiance & our families. That is all I need :)

Personally if your wedding is almost 2 years away you might wanna give your friend a break. Being a MOH in a wedding is a big deal very time consuming and can be stressful and expensive and if she's already in one and it's before yours... she's probably wedding manic!
You chose to shop without her... not her fault if you chose your dress without her. You have sooo much time. Just my opinion.
Your feelings count and you have the right to want to shop but but I think You may be rushing into all the plans! I would chill and talk to her calmly but don't get Bridzilla-ish or you won't have her around at all in the end. it Happens alot~~~!!!

aww t i love you thank you!! we will wedding talk the whole time!! aaah! haha.
..& to Relish..the wedding is not that much closer than mine 9 months before mine but thanks..& I am doing things early for financial reasons I am getting '09 pricing for '11...i am not rushing, just planning ahead because we're paying for alot ourselves & by the time the wedding comes want it all paid & to have $ for a house as well. I am aware that is is far away.. As for her not being there with me its because we were so close over these last few years seeing eachother every few days that she was counting down the days til I got engaged & that it why is so upsetting that she was not a part of it..that's all.

Im sorry I dont care if your wedding was in 2012 if you are excited about something as you should be, this is your wedding, your friend should show some enthusiasm towards it as well. BECAUSE it means so much to you! PERIOD! Look no one will EVER care as much about your wedding as you and your fiance, but your friends SHOULD be thrilled and happy for you and willing to do anything WHEN she can and as long as its reasonable (LOL). Look we all have hectic schedules, we all have a lot going on, but to just take time to do 1 of the few things you asked I dont think is asking for too much.

Well since you're wedding is 2 years away you are planning wayyyy in advance. I mean if she started acting like this 2 months before I would be pissed but maybe she has other things going on.

Re: am I overreacting.???...
your totally justified in being upset. I'd say something and let her, she may not realize she'd being an a$$. Sometimes we all do stufff and don't realize we are hurting others in the process... goodluck!!

Re: am I overreacting.???...
I know everything about her..she has nothing else going on,..just spaneds all of her time with her boyfriend which is not for me to judge..but she actually texted me last night that she misses me & wants to get together..I think she feels that I was being distant & I kind of threw it out there that I felt a little upset saturday & she was there for the other girl & not mine but I will definitely make it clear when I see her in person.
Thanks to all who replied I feel alot better :)

Re: am I overreacting.???...
I would definitely talk to her about it. She's your bf and deserves to know how you're feeling. Plus, you don't want you pain & resentment to eat at your friendship. Just leave the fact that she's not that close with the other girl out of it. It's irrelevant and will only confuse the situation - which is that she keeps flaking on your when you need her support.
