Maybe she just wants a feel of what type of place you'd like it at?

I know very little about my shower, even though I keep digging for clues, lol.

Hmmm maybe she just wants to make sure you'll like the place? Maybe just tell her that you trust her opinion, and you really don't want to know anything about it.

I could imagine... I want a total surprise too.... If my Mom were doing that. I would just say... 'Mom thank you for everything you are doing for me, but I really want it to be a surprise so DONT Talk to me about it, and if you do I am just going to walk away.'

Not to sound bitchy and I'm very sorry if I do, but be happy you have your mom around to plan your shower..

no i could understan you being upset, but also think about your moms position, im sure she wants you to absolutely 100% LOVE your shower, and trust me theyre not easy to plan.....

what i did with my mom bc she doesnt speak english to well and had no idea where to even start looking we went to like 10 places and ultimately she decides when and where, and i know shes devised some clever little way to get me there cuz shes always like youre gonna be so surprised lol, anyway what im trying to say is that im sure your moms gonna make it a surprise one way or the other she just prob needs some guidance

ITA! I don't think you're overreacting but I don't think your mom is doing it intentionally either....maybe just remind her that you want it to be a total surprise and then suggest other people she can talk to about it?? obviously you appreciate her hard work but you're very much entitled to your feelings!!
