I know my sister did but she also had a destination wedding.
I heard to do this to be sure your dress is in on time for your date. What have you girls done?

I didn't either. I thought about it afterwards. I kinda wish I did though because i'm a little nervous they are going to mess it up. I've heard stories of this happening...

I didn't lie, I was afraid it might throw off my fitting schedule and if I lost weight last minute (which I did) it wouldn't fit properly. My dress came in 6 months before my wedding date and I only ordered it 9 months out.

Re: Am I supposed to lie about my wedding date?
I'm paranoid about it not getting in on time so I want to make sure I get it early so yes I am.

Re: Am I supposed to lie about my wedding date?
I did lie (told them it was a week before it actually was.)
I ordered my dress in February, and it was in the first week of May so I really didn't need to at all. Looking back on it, i did finish my fittings a little early.

Re: Am I supposed to lie about my wedding date?
I told them my real date but I ordered it 14 months before my wedding so I should be ok!

Re: Am I supposed to lie about my wedding date?
i didnt lie...and i wish i did!!! I hope it turns out ok but the store i ordered from (that i absolutely love and recommend) says it doesnt matter how far in advance you order your dress (9 months or 15 months) they only come in 6 weeks before the wedding. I had already given them my real date when i found this out so i was not able to change it. I did tell the store that i was away for 2 weeks the month before my wedding so i would appreciate if they could make note of that somehow bc i will not be in the state to go for fittings (that is true). fingers crossed it works out...but i would say better safe than sorry, even if its only 1 week earlier

Re: Am I supposed to lie about my wedding date?
I didn't, but it didn't matter because I took my dress home with me that day.
people say to make it for a week earlier so you have that wiggle room, but most places are pretty good with getting the dress in in time for fittings.

Re: Am I supposed to lie about my wedding date?
I didn't lie. It came in when they said it would. And I don't start fittings until 5 weeks before the wedding anyway. I'd rather not lie than have my dress altered way too early or be like, oh, wow you have the wrong date, it's actually later than that....

I have not yet gone dress shopping but one of my best friends is a wedding planner and she said she ALWAYS advises this to all her brides and family members!

I didn't lie but I also found my dress over a year before so there was no reason to lie
