Am I the only one?

Am I the only one?

Who plans on selling a bunch of my wedding stuff afterwards? Not my gown (actually, I'm thinking of doing one of those 'trash the dress' photo sessions after the wedding at Montauk Point) but I just bought 72 pale yellow frosted glass votives, for example. I have no need for 72 yellow frosted glass votives after the wedding! I might save a dozen in case we decorate a bathroom in yellow when we buy a house later in the year, but otherwise they're going up on eBay. I'm also not going to need all the vases for the centerpieces, if guests don't take them home (they'll be inexpensive glass so I won't care if guests take them.) And I want to buy one of those 'Here Comes the Bride' banners for the junior groomsmen to carry, and the only way I can justify the expense to myself if is if I resell it on eBay afterward for $25 or so. Also I bought a vintage cake topper I don't like that much, now that I see it in person, but they're valuable, so it's going back on eBay. I am a sentimental person, but I know I'm not going to need all this stuff, and I don't plan on making a profit or even my money back, just enough to offset the cost. Has anyone else done this or planned on it?

We are gigivng away the frames we are going to sue for our CP as well as the bud vases and whatever dooes not go I will offer for sale here and if not, then ebay. I will be selling my dress too. I am sentimental but not like that-I mean I hate the derss now! LOL. Its one of those weird things. Everytime I see a bridal magazine with a prettier dress I curse mine. I think I'll be fine-don't look at my prom dress either. As long as I ahve pics I am fine.

Really? I think your gown is gorgeous! I love my gown, and I refuse to let myself second-guess it, but that's the other sort of gown I loved, with a lace overlay. I think you're going to look gorgeous. I guess a lot of us second-guess our gowns, but we actually love them on the day. I know I did love other gowns when I tried them on, but mine was the only one that made me feel like a bride, which is why I chose that one. I left the salon and thought about it for a week, then called around to get the best price. I think you're going to look amazing, so stop looking at magazines! (I know you can't, I can't either, it's a sickness... )

You do it after the wedding--go and do a photoshoot, with or without your new husband, where you roll around in the surf, lie on the grass, all the things you wouldn't do on your wedding day or before because you were worried that you'd ruin your dress. After the wedding, who cares? Well, you would if it was a family heirloom, or if you want it to be, but I don't think I care that much. I'll get it cleaned and see what happens.
