Am I the only one...

Am I the only one...

going through the total opposite of a honeymoon phase? For the last month DH and I have been fighting about almost EVERYTHING! I finally told him yesterday that I am getting really tired of us biting each others heads off every time we talk and he agreed. Then we argued about that for another hour. It led into a fight about my attitude, his attitude, money, sex, TTC, cooking, cleaning, etc etc. Urgh! Thank God I am going in vacation without him a few weeks. I need that time away (he agreed with this as well). Its really sad. I thought we'd be in this super lovey dovey stage...but we're not.

Anyone else hit this wall after their wedding was over?

We have been fighting constantly lately. I don't know why but it is neverending.
Glad to know I am not the only one with this problem.

Re: Am I the only one...

Maybe a little bit right after the wedding but I blame that on our disaster of a 'HM'. I mean it was fun, but all DH wanted to do was hang out with his family... on our HM. Big mistake.

Anyway.... did you guys live together before the wedding? It's a big adjustment so I'm not so surprised that it's causing some friction. Hang in there!

I'm sorry you and DH are going through that. DH and I haven't really fought since the wedding, nothing to really fight about. Maybe it's just the stress of the money and TTC that has got you both at your wits ends. Maybe go on this vacation and turn off your phone. Absence makes the heart grow fonder and you'll miss him like crazy by the time you get home!

Good luck!

Yeah we fight about all that stuff a lot. Apparently my attitude sucks and he's sick of it. Blah Blah Blah. I know I may not be the 'nicest' person and I might be a whole lot more sarcastic than i should be, but that's me... I keep telling him that and he gets so pissssed!!!

Re: Am I the only one...

DH and I both have really strong personalities.. and I'm a fighter... so we do bicker, we do yell... I have contemplated dropping the 'D' word...
but at the end of the night, we always kiss each other good night and say 'i love you'... EVERY NIGHT.
we never go to bed angry.... maybe frustrated, but not angry.

I think you two should talk about it... try not to yell.. if you get the urge to yell, stand up and walk outside, take a breath then walk back in and continue.

Thanks so much ladies! I really thought I was alone here. We were already living together (for the past 9 years). We usually have 1 really big fight a year. This one just feels sooooo different now. It feels so much more serious than the others. One of his major complaints was that I 'put up with so much crap at work' and that I am 'not afraid of telling him off'. Well HELLO! I can't flip out at work the way I flip out at home! He just wants me to be quiet when he is being a total prick. We have been dealing with the stress of him hating his old job..and now starting a new one last week. His commute got ridiculous, which led to his attitude being ridiculous. Sorry if I can put up with my boss..but refuse to put up with his crappy attitude! Its so different. The $$ complaint is mostly xmas spending. Whatever! its xmas! Its not like we go around handing out xbox's! My family is HUGE on xmas..and he is not. Such a grinch! So of course, I am spending all of our $$ on gifts (so he says). Really, he is finding any little thing to complain about.

Just talking to you girls about it already makes me feel better!

i really feel like i can relate to this as well. DH and I lived together before we got married and now that they 'honeymoon's over,' we've been finding this to bicker about all the time. not really knock-down, drag out fights, but the little things suddenly turn into big things.

DH and i are on the same page about so many fundamental things, but as we're living our day to day lives, it's the little things that are getting in the way. I completely feel for you... I love DH more than anything and feel horrible after fighting and wish it would never happen in the first place, yet I feel like I can't just 'let it go.' Just know that you're really not alone... a lot of us are working through the adjustment!

From the couple married much longer than us, they always told me that the first year of marriage is very hard. Compromising, sharing space, etc etc... It will all work out!! Keep your head up.

EXACTLY this. I got my new SS card in the mail yesterday and I was SOO excited and DH said something like 'you're being annoying' and I actually cried! Just started crying!

other than that one thing though, our interactions have been exactly the same - fight about the same things, have the same routine. its kind of boring actually!

No your definitely not alone. Not sure if you lived together before you were married but we didn't and lot of ours has to do just with that and we've been together for 9 years. Also MIL drama. It is funny because you always hear about the HM peroid but you also hear that the first year can be the hardest. Just keep the lines of communication open and things will turn around.
