who wants to go dress shopping alone?? At least for the first time so I can get a feel for what it's like.
I'm having anxiety thinking about these salespeople being extremely overwhelming for me. I want it to be a fun experience and I definitely want my mom and some friends coming with me along the way but....maybe not for the first time.
Does that sound strange? Has anyone thought about or done this?

no that sounds normal. Trust me i wanted to go alone too but because I don't drive I needed people to come with me like my mom and grandma and for the first time it was not just overwhelming but also so stressful because my grandma and mom can be so annoying with their opinions..LOL

I feel the same way. I am going to go alone the first time and get an idea of what I like and then bring my mom/sisters with me afterwards.

so glad i'm not the only one! I just can't get over the anxious feeling I'm getting thinking of the sales people swarming around me. I just wanna casually sneak in and try some stuff on w/out a huge fuss...

thats a good idea. i think doing for the first time with people will be alot of pressure and overwhelming...everyone will be putting in their 'two cents' and sometimes its not always appreciated LOL....

I feel the same way. I just want to not hear any opinions the first time around. Also I don't want to wait around for anyone's schedule to be free.

I don't blame you... sometimes family/friends can be a lot to deal with... in my case I went with a posse of people but I needed and wanted opinions.

i wish i could, but i know it would break my moms heart. but i already had to mention to my wedding party and other friends and family that i will not be going dress shopping with everyone.
i know how i get when i am feeling overwhelmed and i have a feeling that is def going to happen. so i am only taking my mom and SIL/MOH lol shes coming to keep my mom in check lol

I had extreme anxiety yesterdat- it went soooo well though, I thought I wasn't going to like any dresses, but I went to Babylon village bridal & Helens in commack and was very happy with custeromer service at both places- they helped me soo much and made me feel super comfortable....good luck!

I made an appointment for thursday at Bridal Reflections so we'll see how it goes. They are having a James Clifford trunk show and I'm loving his stuff.
Babylon village bridal is on my list of place to check out!

I would say if you are worried about salespeople overwhelming you, definitely don't go alone the first time!! if you are the only one there they are going to talk your ear off! I just went for the first time with my little sister (11 yrs old) and because she's little the salesperson definitely wanted to dominate the appt till I spoke up.
What did help me, though, is that we went to try on a few specific dresses and it was over in 20 min. It was good to get my feet wet and the short appt did leave me feeling overwhelmed.
