am I the only one not doing...

Just curious if am the only one not doing pics before. I keep going back and forth on this decision and i dont know what to do. I want to see FH before but my moms only wish was not to see him until i come down the aisle. I want that as well but considering we are getting married at the hall and have no time between ceremony and cocktail. Neither of us are heart broken about missing reception.... we just want to get our moneys worth as far as pictures. Please help me make a final decision.

I am not doing pics before. I told FH I want it to be a special moment when I walk down the isle and he sees me for the first time. We are doing them right after the ceremony,

We are also getting married at our RH and are doing pics before. All of our guests are traveling atleast 2 hrs to come (some are coming from out of the country) and we want to spend as much time witht hem as possible on our wedding day.

And I kind of like the idea of seeing eachother for the first time in private..Ithink it will be really intimate. And I know when FH see's me walking down the aisle it will still be special... it will be that 'omg, this is it...we're gong to spend the rest of our lives together' feeling

I thought I wanted that moment, but from what I read and seen, I kinda like the idea of doing them before. You still get set up so there is a moment when he first sees you, and I hear it makes the ceremony easier and more memorable. Because your not all jumbled. Don't get me wrong I am kicking him out of the house the night before, but we're meeting at the beach 2 1/2 hours before to do the pics. I am paying for this wedding and I want to enjoy every minute of it. My personal opinion is I don't want to miss my CH. I want to try to say hello to as many peple at the CH as I can so I can enjoy the rest of the reception.

That being said it sounds like you don't want to see him before hand and you don't mind missing the CH, maybe you an extend it by a half hour, so you'll know you'll get enought time for pics. Good Luck with your desicion.

I am not doing pics before hand. I actually don't want a whole lot of portraits though... I told her she can grab us for 20 minutes for a few family shots - but other than that she is going to need to find a way to really work with the candids and photojournalistic shots!

I remember going to a wedding when I was young and when the doors opened for the bride I happened to be looking at the groom. I remember his face changing - he flushed and he swallowed hard and then he lit up from the inside out. I have always dreamed of a moment like that. And I know you can have something similar beforehand - but for me I want that moment to come at the time when I am walking down the aisle to become his wife. Sooooo... no pics beforehand for us!

i really think this is a decision you need to make for yourself....

for me, we chose to see each other before for the following reasons...

- we don't think it's 'bad luck'
- our ceremony and reception are at the same place and we don't want to miss the CH
- we definitely don't want to miss the steel drum band at our CH!
- we want to be able to greet all of our guests during the CH so we can enjoy the reception
- i feel that FH won't feel as comfortable showing his 'true' emotions knowing that everyone is watching him.. i think that if we were able to meet in private (other than the photog), we'll be able to have a sweeter moment when we see eachother

i think that's it...

although i love the idea of him first seeing me as i walk down the aisle, it just wasn't the best idea for us...

you two need to decide what's right for you..

We are not doing the before pics, we feel that it will ruin the 'moment' at the church.

FH and I are going back and forth about doing pictures before. We're getting married at our RH, so there isn't any time between the ceremony and cocktail hour. I was starting to lean towards doing pictures before when FH surprised me by saying that no, we can't see each other until the ceremony because it's bad luck to see me before. However, we have tons of family and friends coming from out of town, so we really don't want to miss the reception. It's a tough decision! I'm still kinda hoping I can convince FH to do pictures before though - I think it will help relax me cause I'm pretty sure I will be freaking out and/or crying when my Dad gives me away. I don't want to look all puffy eyed in my pictures.

Nope. I'm not doing them before either. It was really important to both of us that walking down the aisle be the very first time we see each other. Its a moment i've been dreaming of forever and I wouldnt have it any other way.

BUT, I have to say, I can completely understand why some brides do pictures befotrehand -- it definately makes sense time-wise.

We're not doing pics before the ceremony (pics of FH and I). We're doing all the other pictures though........we want to see each other for the first time when I walk down the aisle......
