that can't seem to save a dime to start this wedding planning?
Every time that we think we can start saving something comes up! I refuse to go see places unless I have some type of money saved for deposits. I want to marry my wonderful man and I don't want to wait to 2007 or after!
Thanks for reading just feeling frustrated and I feel so dumb being here knowing I can't afford it.
PS.....you girls have given me some great ideas but in the end I have to have money!

saving is very hard. I am having trouble too. just remember, every single dime counts. go over your spending and see where you can begin.
good luck...and of course you belong here...you're getting married!

I know...a wedding costs so much $$$ Try to find things you can do on your own it might be cheaper...also dont forget about the $$$ you will get AT your wedding. I pretty much broke even. Hope everything works out and try not to get too frustrated!! Hugs for you

Re: Am I the the only one.....
I set an amount that we have to put away each month. On pay day I put it aside. Its in a seperate account and I dont touch it for any reason. I dont even have a card for it.

It will happen. everything will fall into place don't worry.

Saving is the WORST part of the planning process! Have you tried keeping track of how you spend your money on a weekly basis? Until I did that, I had no idea where my money was going. Hang in there because you'll get there!!!

Re: Am I the the only one.....
FH is meticulous with money, I am awful at saving $. If it wasn't for him, we would be broke.
Here's his method of madness. He has a chart with my name and his name going across the columns. Then going down there is the date of every Thursday of every week from when we started back in January until the beginning of May. Each week, we deposit $100 from each of our paychecks and he checks it off 'the big board' (as I lovingly call it) to make sure we are on our schedule. This way, we can still pay our individual bills and still set aside for our wedding/house expenses. It's very annoying to have to hear him remind me every week but if it weren't for him being so crazy, we would be no where near our saving point. After a while, you won't even feel it. I just pretend there is no money in our savings and this way I'm not tempted to spend it. Also, our monthly hall payment is NOT taken from our savings. When we have to make a hall payment, we just scrimp and starve that week. I know it *****, but it's soooooo gonna be worth it.

Re: Am I the the only one.....
i opened an ING savings account. best thing we ever did! we get so much in interest and it's easier to save when i know i have to put money in each month

Just book a hall and then save. When you have a set date, saving somehow becomes easier b/c you have a deadline.

Re: Am I the the only one.....
I agree that you should open an ING savings account. You'll get a good interest rate right now and will really make $$ on the $$ you already have in there.
Definitely make a list and start figuring out where you can cut things. Bring lunch with you to work, cut back on manicures (if you get them), etc. I did all of this and managed to save.
Also, have you thought about getting a p/t job to help out?

Re: Am I the the only one.....
Take it from someone who has two little ones who's daycare cost me the same as my rent every month. Not including car payments, insurance, and other bills/ personal things Trust me those things add up. But we go over our spending habits very carefully. Once you get your deposits out of the way, you can try to make payment plans so things won't pile up on you at the last minute. This wedding planning can be the best part, and also the sour part, but when its all done, make sure you won't be living your happy lives in debt. Cheer up, when I started planning I didn't know where the extra cash was going to come from, but we managed.
