Amanderrrr Lynn I FINISHED!
I am halfway through the book - but this quote. . . wow I was almost in tears in the doctor's office today reading this. It gave me goosebumps.
'Contrary to what a good 40 years of feminist propaganda has claimed, it is not oppression, subjugation or abdicating of any feminine quality of life potential to marry a man, be proud of your bonding, rejoice in your gifts and sacrifices for your marriage and family, and derive pleasure and sustenance from your role as a wife and mother.'
When I finish I will get back to you!!

WOW i finished it and I am so glad that you mentioned this book! I am actually going to add a reminder to read this book to my Outlook calendar - i am going to reread it for every anniversary!!
JUST WOW! I mean I read your summary just now and you really did a great job capturing the essence of the book! But just to talk about a little tiny thing that I am making an effort to change:
Every morning I wake up and do my hair, put on makeup and dress my best for. . . my coworkers? my boss? well really for myself i guess bc i dont really care what THEY think . . .
ok then i come home and if i have to do something else i will redo my hair, change into another cute outfit and then touch up my makeup for. . .my friends? family? strangers? hmm i guess to just feel pretty. . .
and now it is about 10PM and FH is going to come over so what do I do? I put on my XL sweat pants. . .a t shirt down to my knees that says 'We'll Sing Matilda' ( I kid you not, my brother got it for me in Australia ) I wash off all my makeup and throw my hair in a bun for. . . the only person who i WANT to find me attractive? does that make ANY sense?
I mean obviously, when we live together I will want to get comfortable but at least for a little while when he gets home I can be presentable no? SO maybe I can put on a pair of sweats and a tank top - keep my makeup on and leave my hair down for a little longer!
ANYWAY - this 'controversial' book has basically taken everything that I have ever felt about my relationship and put it into a book and given me a little kick in the behind to make more of an effort!! Thanks for the rec. and this is my OTHER favorite part of the book:
Every wife should ask herself:
If I really believe all the things I say/think/complain about him, why on eath are we married? If I love him so much, why do I act so unloving and disrespectful? What will make him continue to love me if I continue to act this way?
