Today is my grandparents 60TH wedding anniversary! Isn't that just incredible?
They are both in their 80s. They were married pretty soon after my grandfather returned from WWII.
What I think is amazing is that although they fight and bicker all the time (they are really quite the 'old married couple') it's so clear that they still love each other very deeply. 2 children, 5 grandchildren, several wars, who knows how many presidents and senators and whatever else... and they are still together and going strong.
My grandfather is very ill, and we are praying that he lives to see their 61st anniversary, but for now we are honoring how beautiful it is to spend 60 years with the same person and still want countless more - if he passes, he will leave behind a wife who will miss him deeply. I don't think my grandmother would even know what to do without him.
