While I don't think John Stevens is the greatest singer in the Americal Idol lot .. I do think he's got talent .. and I wonder if part of his problem is that he thinks he doesn't belong there .. so it inhibits him from doing his best. Let's face it .. week after week .. he seems more shocked than anyone that he's still there.

This guy's got a voice .. but I definitely don't think this competition is doing him any favors .. and I certainly can see him rattling out songs that fit his voice style .. like Sinatra, Connick, Jr., etc.

By the way .. I also wonder about the vocal coach they have on this show .. it appears as though Barry Manilow spent lots and lots of time with the contestants .. I heard he had requested an extra week to work with them, and coach them through his songs .. and I do admit .. everyone seemed to show improvement this week .. except maybe George. Yes, that's right .. I think John Stevens opened up and sang better this week.

Kimberly Locke a few weeks back was interviewed at one of the local radio stations here on the Island .. and when asked what she might change if she had to do it all over again .. she said she would have trusted her instincts more on which songs to sing, and what keys/notes to sing them in.

Oh, and one more thing .. maybe Jennifer could sing .. but was I the only one who didn't like the strange faces she would make while singing .. and I still felt she had a gospel-like way of singing .. and on that note .. I wonder if Fantasia's gospel-like rendition of her song hurt her this week. Finally .. what was the deal with her little girl being brought out on stage???? To me .. that's unfair special treatment.

I agree with what you said. The voters of this show are probably young and female and they are going to vote for the young, fresh, 'william hung' kid that best represents them. John Stevens is the only one of his kind up there. He is the only very young (youngest in the competetion), white, male, old school singer up there (and America LOVES the comeback kid) and so he has a loyal fan base that never divides against him. Latoya, Jennifer, and Fantasia, and even George are going to have a smaller loyal fan base because although they are amazing, they all sing very similarly and would attract the same fans. JMO.

More news: if Jasmine or Diana leave the competition, I feel like more of those votes would go to John too.

Last year someone had their child with them on stage. I believe it was Josh Gracin.

I don't recall that .. but I don't like those kinds of stunts .. and as far as I'm concerned .. the show does try to 'push' certain contestants on the views .. like Ruben Studdard .. why was he the only one to get a special intro during the last American Idol series???? Every time he came out .. he got that Ruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuben Stuuuuudddaaard intro from Ryan .. TOTALLY UNFAIR .. it built unfair hype on him .. not that he's not a good singer .. because he is .. it's just no one should be getting any kind of special edge.

And I really don't like how John Stevens is made to feel like garbage every week .. because he's still there .. because the viewers are voting for him .. That's just TOO BAD .. those are the rules .. the kid's under enough stress ... he shouldn't be made to feel like the show doesn't want him .. because it's based on what America picks .. and so far .. they keep picking him to stay.

If the show really does't like what's going on .. then they should just let the 3 judges (plus whatever guest judge) decide each week .. otherwise .. they should all learn to accept the vote .. including host Ryan.

Here is how to fix the problem.

America should have to vote on WHO THEY WANT KICKED OFF instead.... like Survivor. This way, the teenyboppers cannot band together to support their favorites. I think it would vastly improve the weeding out process, since the votes would be based more on performance (hopefully).

This would eliminate the people who really $uck right away!
