has anyone ever used american express points for travel? i just realized that my amex card gets point so i was thinking maybe we can use them towards the honeymoon flight.
has anyone ever done this before? does anyone know about how many points a flight is?

Re: Amex points
i have amex delta card....its really hard to book flights, you have to go through all these hoops to get a ticket...i don't think its really worth it for the honeymoon.
however if your still considering hawaii, look into the hawaiian airlines card through the website, after the first purchase you get 20,000 miles and a one way ticket is 20,000....i had family members get the card and transfer the points to me for my free flights.

Re: Amex points
christine, thanks for the info. however FH will not be happy if i got another credit card. it would have worked out with my amex card because we both paid our school tuition on it. so we have points accumulated already.

I have blue sky and used the points... if you have blue sky you can book with any travel site and do not have to use amex

I have the same. Blue Sky is good because it just gives you money off. For example, I booked a rental car in Florida, and I had 7500 points, so they gave me a $100 back.

Re: Amex points
I use my points all the time, Ive accumilated so many. You have to call amex or log in and book the trip of your choice and it tells you how many points you need and the cost etc

Re: Amex points
'09er crashing - sorry this may be long.
I am an AMEX points queen! I am paying under $600 for 2 first class tickets to Hawaii on Delta using a combination of Delta miles and AMEX points.
You can book your flights through the Amex website and take $$ directly off your flight. If you have say 76,000 miles it translates to approximately $760. There are instructions on the AMEX website when you book the tickets on how to use your points. FH and I basically use AMEX to pay everything so we have a lot of miles. Also, I used to travel for work so I had Delta FF miles. What I did was see how many miles it was on Delta to go to Hawaii first class. You have to book early because the award flights to Hawaii sell out fast. You can do it only as far as 330 days in advance. I fell short of the miles I needed in my delta account but was able to transfer some Amex points to Delta and got one totally free first class ticket.
Then I booked another first class ticket on the Amex website for the same flights and used my pay with points option. The balance due was just under $600.
You just have to know how to work the system but when you get a deal using your points, nothing beats it.
