An honest observation

An honest observation

With regards to pulling posts...

I understand that LIW has to protect themselves from lawsuits, but at what point does it infringe upon our right to use this board to post reviews and alert fellow brides to potentially poor vendors or bad experiences?

If we are NOT allowed to post about our own, honest experiences, the whole point of this forum is useless. Yes, we share and talk and make friends, but the bottom line is that we are all brides who a spedning a great deal of money and expect the right to hear the good, bad and ugly about a vendor. I understand that if we post a bad review in a 'slanderous' or 'defamatory' tone, it could be pulled. But what about people who post an honest, non-inflammatory review? It begs the question of what is allowable and what is not. If there's a clear demarcation that CS could give to us, so we can see what will be pulled and why, I think that would be helpful.

I'm not looking for any drama, just wanted to get that out.

well said! I agree. the post that was pulled today was just a bride sharing her experience. She didnt tell anyone not to use that vendor or say anything other than her own negative experiences. I dont understand why a post like that gets pulled.

Couldn't agree more! I came on this site to find out what's out there and what everyone's reviews were on certain vendors. To tell you the truth, I sometimes fees like I shouldn't trust everything I read on here, because I feel like all the negative reviews are deleted and only the positive reviews stay.

i understand what you're saying, heather.

but the bottom line is they are a business, with sponsors and official vendors.

if we created our own message board, on our own, then we could talk freely about whatever the hell we wanted to.

until then... we go by what CS will or will not allow to be said here.

suckkks but that's how it is.

i'm more concerned with the fact that i can't say 's-u-c-k-s.'

who is offended by that word?

You don't have a 'right' to post -- it's a privilege to be able to use this service and the owners of the website can and must choose to censor as necessary to protect themselves and their clients. Think about all the good this website does for all of us, and you'll realize quickly how much more positives there are about this site than negatives.

Just always remember as a consumer to be aware and be savvy. You'll be able to protect yourself as well as possible that way.

It comes up all the time that LIW posters are upset by censorship and deleted posts, but it is part of the territory when you choose to use the website. You can review the terms of service on the website and of course FM client services for an explanation, but they are not going to change their rules because the bottom line is that defamation is serious business that can cost a lot in legal fees to litigate which in the end would harm those of us who use this website for all the free wonderful things it offers us.

I'm so sorry to hear about those who have been disappointed by vendors and have horror stories, and I hope it never happens to anyone else.

Re: An honest observation

Maybe we should just report bad experiences to the Better Business Bureau instead. Which would vendors think is worse? A bride telling about a bad experience on this site or a report to the BBB? Honestly my caterer told me about this site and said that the good thing about it is that the brides are quite honest about their experiences. If a vendor is paid a $$$$$$ price for a service then they better deliver. Either way if the post is deleted it will get around another way.

i plan on reporting one of my vendors to the bbb

i wonder if there's a way for us to just let other brides know when this has been done-is that against the rules?

I don't think it would be...just to say 'I made a comment to the BBB about xyz vendor'...there's no opinion in that. Just a statement of fact.

Then what is the point of having this forum if you basically can't say ANYTHING?

I thought for sure my cake experience was going to get pulled.

I guess it helped that I had 98797459278 pics of it to proof my experience.

Re: An honest observation

again I missed it!

A) I agree with what you're saying. I understand both sides but it does seem a bit tricky to walk the line of what is considered acceptable and not...

B) What happened this morning?
