to really give my Matron of Honor a bit of spotlight during my wedding. She is sooo special to me, we've known each other forever.
She is celebrating her 5 year anniversary w/her husband a week before my wedding. Her and hubby had a rocky last couple of years, but they are much better now. So I was thinking........ I could have the DJ play her First Dance song and ask her and her hubby to come and relive their first dance dedicated to her by Len and me. I think she would feel so special. Halfway thru, other couples would be invited to join. BTW, she will know a big majority of the people invited on my side so they will be happy for her.
Len said we should do it towards the middle of the reception so it's not right next to ours . What do you all think about this idea and when should we play the song.

I think it's a wonderful idea! However, I agree with Len, it should be in the middle of the reception... I know you want to do something special for her, but you don't want to take anything away from the two of you... JMO!

Hi Liz!
I think it's a great idea...I'm doing something similar. One of my BM's anniversary is the same day as our wedding. Since we are not doing the traditional daughter/father mother/son dance, after the cake cutting we will ask them to come to the floor for an anniversary dance and then have all couples join them. They will play the couple's first dance song from their wedding. I love it!

That is such a sweet idea and I am sure it would mean so much to her to know that you are taking time out of your special day to do something for her. I agree though to do it in the middle of the reception.

Re: An idea I have.......
I think dubliner had a great suggestion. Right after dinner, the first song played could be theirs with the announcement. That way you aren't clearing the dance floor.

Re: An idea I have.......
Liz: I am doing something like that too. My FILs will be celebrating their 40th anniversary 2 weeks before my wedding, so instead of the b-ook/garter we are going to have the DJ mention their anniversary and play their song and have them dance. Then after that we are going to play by parents song and have them dance. Then we will give our mothers a b-ook and our fathers a garter.
I think that it a great gesture. She would really see what she means to you.

Thats' a great idea. We are doing something similar for my Dad who is turning 60 in April and also retiring from his job of 40 years. We are dedicatiing a song to him but it will be toward the latter part of the reception.
