What should you say in a thank you letter after an interview? Should it be hand written or typed? Thanks!

Re: An interview thank you?
Either, but I think hand written is nice & seems more sincere.
I have gotten emails, which kind of annoy me, but it is better then nothing. Once we interviewed several peopel for an entry level position & NO ONE thanked us. We had to hire 2 of them & later I called them on it & they had never heard of such a thing.

Re: An interview thank you?
I don't like e-mail thank-yous either - too 'easy' and impersonal.
My old boss preferred receiving a typed one because it showed that the prospective employee knew how to write business letters. I think I picked up her philosophy on that, and that's what I advise my students now.
For an informational interview, I personally prefer a hand written note.
ETA: I forgot about content. Here's some info on that... Restate your interest in the position and company. Briefly review your qualifications and state any additional information not mentioned during the interview. Exercise care in writing your follow-up letter.

I prefer hand written....It seems more personal. HATE emailed ones, especially ones sent to more than 1 person (we generally do group interviews here).

Re: An interview thank you?
Don't know what position you were looking for but here is a little something that may stimulate your thoughts!
Dear So and So:
Thank you for the interview on the 22nd. I am confident I can fill the position of purchasing assistant. I agree that with your expanding activities, you need someone who can devote time to comparing prices and researching alternative sources of supply, and I have a program in mind that has been used successfully by other firms. Because it could easily be adapted to your operation, I would like to present this procedure for your consideration.
In my previous job we purchased from several of the same suppliers that you use. I believe I can adapt quickly to your purchasing procedures.
I will phone your office on the 30th to see if we can set a time to continue our discussion.
Sincerely,

Definately write one. I did for my first job out of college and that put me over the edge with the competition even though I was experienced yet. They saved it in my personnel file.
