An obvious tip no one thought to mention?! (And a brief review)

Original post by flibbertigibbet

Everyone do yourself a huge favor the day before you get married.

Disable facebook notification e-mails.

I have 196 e-mails since Friday night. Holy crap.

Anyhow...

You've been married:
1 Days 19 Hours
1 Minutes 40 Seconds

The day was great. I don't know HOW ON EARTH you guys do things the 'normal way' and have the ceremony and full blowout reception all in one day.

We had breakfast the morning of and did most of our pictures before the 3 pm ceremony -- I'm gonna have my pictures back in two weeks so I'll talk more about it then but...

We won our photography package at TWOTY with Nick G. Photography and honestly, I could write a huge mess of how much we LOVE Nick! He is so awesome.

Even though our day wasn't exactly traditional in its setup... Nick stayed with us the whole day. Our families LOVED being with him, he made everyone super comfortable and was totally accomodating with all picture requests and took pictures for people with their cameras as well. We got our whole must-take shot list done and with total ease. Bill and I did lots of totally goofy pictures which we wanted but I know he got lots of really beautiful shots as well.

We went to the bowling alley an hour before the ceremony started and bowled a frame and got super cute pics there. We had an audience watching and EVERYONE IS SO NICE TO YOU when you're getting married LOL.

They sent us off with free bowling certificates And asked us to make sure we get them copies of the pics there so they can put it in their newsletter.

Nick risked life and limb when my terrible bowling skills nearly took him out when he was in the middle of the bowling lane

The ceremony was all I could've asked for. Our priest is so incredible... really funny. He had everyone laughing talking about how since it was close to Halloween he thought I'd come in dressed the Glinda the Good Witch from Wizard of Oz... but instead had my Ruby Slippers on -- and how Bill looked like Wolfman. And then he talked about my cutie-pie kids that I take care of who stood up in the wedding.

Of course, as mentioned before ... we had asked the music director to play the LOST music. I gave her two pieces I loved and asked her to sort of combine the two somehow. She made up her own little piece and it was a combination of the LOST music with a little but of 'Somewhere over the Rainbow' which -- obvs with my Oz love -- I was psyched about.

I stuck my head out waiting for my turn to walk down the aisle and heard the music and almost lost it. Really had to try to pull it together. It was so pretty. I want to call her and ask if there's anyway she can do a recording of it so that when we do a slideshow of the pictures we can play it as the background.

After the ceremony we went out to a pumpkin patch in Yaphank... along with the bowling alley, I had asked Nick if we could do the pumpkin patch thing and he was SO great and called and sweet-talked the managers/owners and got them on board with letting us come in. They pumpkin patch people were really excited to have us there and wanted the pictures from us as well.

My family had followed us so they could watch us do our pics with Nick and the owners put us all on a hayride.

Everyone was saying 'This is the last thing I thought I'd be doing today...' but it was so much fun. My grandma is 75 years old and was like 'I've never been on a hayride before in my life... I'm glad my first hayride is with you and Bill on your wedding day.'

The weather was beautiful on Saturday. 10 days ago it said it was going to be rainy and 50 degrees.

But it was clear, sunny and hardly any wind until later in the day. It wasn't until 5ish that it started to get chilly out. I prepared for it to be snowing and miserable -- I couldn't be more pleased with the weather. Luck of the draw I guess ... and mother nature made up to us for MONSOONING on the day of our engagement party.

We celebrated at the hotel bar that night. We didn't have a big crowd and that was okay. Theresa and her DH came out and celebrated with us. It wasn't a formal thing, my family changed out of their dressy clothes.

After we did our 'first dance' the pulp fiction dance song... we played all Halloween music. It was mostly just people hanging out and drinking but a few of us had fun dancing to Monster Mash and The Time Warp, etc.

I danced with my brother in his zombie shirt.

Thank you Ilana for coming out!!! My booboo I want to see our first kiss video!!!

And Theresa and Carlos for coming and getting so many pictures and putting them up here so fast. And for staying at our INSANE FUN party You guys are the best!!!

I don't have a whole lot of 'vendors' to review. But I'll put up a small review later on.

Right now... I have a reception to finish planning.

Officially restarting the countdown... aren't you jealous?

Yep!

Though I only had them on for the family pictures and at the ceremony.

I bowled, searched for pumpkins and danced in my chuck taylors!
