Re: An Oheka Castle Wedding
My MOH's cousin got married there last June...she said it was GORGEOUS!!!! and the food was OFF THE HOOK...but honestly for those kind of prices if friggin should be....JMHO personally- I think its kinda crazy but if its the place of your dreams far be it from me to criticize...i know you can get a cheaper rate for Thurs and sunday night...it was like $175-$200 pp and they reduced the site fee to $5k...but still....Why don't you look at the Carltun or maybe Coindre Hall if your into that sorta thing...it might save you big bills...plus (because I'm a cheap guinea) its gonna be hard for people to match the price of the plate for a gift...just a consideration...HTH!!

Re: An Oheka Castle Wedding
Thank so much for your info (Belongs2DanBuckley). I dont mind having my wedding on a Sunday, its still kinda pricey though, I just have to wait to see the castle on Sat to see if its worth it and if it blows my mind.

Re: An Oheka Castle Wedding
I have been there for three events, one was a christmas party which I was no thrilled with. The place was beautiful around Christmas time but I was not overly impressed by the food or the service. On of the weddings I went to there was Phenomenal and was much better than the Christmas party, The other was on a Sunday afternoon and everything was great but I guess they had a wedding that night and they were literally rushing us out of the room. I have heard also that as the bride and groom the sequester )sp?) you into a private room after your get there and no one is allowed to speak to you they have to be cleared through the door guard!!! Oh well the place is awesome and I am sure many people have had a wonderful time there...If it is your dream place....GO FOR IT!!

Re: An Oheka Castle Wedding
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOVE Oheaka!!! I can not justify $pending the money on having a wedding there but have been there a few times.:I went w/ FH & his parents they have business dinners in the Chaplin Room ( yes as in Charlie Chaplin). It's amazing!!!! we get great service 2 waiters, 1 busboy, private bar in the room for cocktails before hand.. An area for cordials after the meal.... All that for a party of 10!!!
Last memorial day we went to a wedding there, it was on the thursday before... AS a guest I felt like Royalty.... WE stayed there.... UGH he most comfy bed, and the robe was sooooooooo lush.. All the products were L'Occtaine...
we had a fireplace in the room, catheridial celings... I actually video toured the room on the camara on my cell

It is not possible that they had another wedding there that night. The site fee is to have the castle for the entire day. You pick the start time of your affair. Only one affair per day there.

Hi, Im the MOH who's cousin got married there
It was indeed a beaaautiful wedding. I LOVE the castle. just beautiful. and their suite was AMAZING! Id LOVE to stay in that room one night of my life!!!! But quite honestly, for the $, IMO its not worth it. Id rather spend the extra $ on my HM or towards my house. If youre on a budget, its probably not for you, since you can get a place JUST AS BEAUTIFUL for less $... If $ is no object- GO FOR IT. Its simply amazing and a truly unique experience. Photos will be amazing. Food was very good as well. The ballroom was beautiful too. The service at MY table was not so good. My mother said her service was outstanding though. But at MY table it was not. [probably because we were the raudy ones]
if you like the castle- check out the Woodlands [architect is the same as oheka] and is a mansion on the north shore- just a few blocks away from oheka. this is where im getting married.
also check out the Glen Cove Mansion, Bourne mansion, Vanderbilt, and Old Westbury Gardens
FM me if you hvae more questions

I am paying more thanthat for my wedding, but i am also having about 400 guests so it would be a whole lot more than that. I like the outside but not too sure about the inside. If i could i would have it at gotham hall with the 65 foot cathedral ceilings, its soooo beautiful. The worst part is that after all the extras and everything our price per person is not that much less than gotham hall
I told Fi that we could still change it but he prefers this
