I'm thinking of doing an orchid too. Are you doing real orchids or fakes?

I think it depends on where you are getting married and how traditional of a ceremony you are having. If it's a church or chapel and more traditional then I say yes. If you want a more beachy, relaxed ceremony then no. I guess it's really up to you.

Hmm ok JMO but even though she is throwing in the real orchid, I wouldn't use it. I would go with silk because it will just hold up better, ESPECIALLY if you paln to use a veil. Otherwise it is too fragile. Think about it: in your hair all day, no water, getting bounced around as you pose for photos, dance, get kissed by friends and relatibes, gets mushed by your veil, etc. If oyu want it to stay fresh, stick with silk. Thats why I chose silk gerbers for my BM's hair instead f real.

For a veil...Hmm tricky. Depends how you are wearing your hair. The easiest way would probably be in a half up-half down style where you could set it right at the base of the half up paer with a clip or comb. or do it in a chignon and slide it right in with a comb to the top or side. I think if you try and wear it to the side as in a beach wedding, it will get mushed by the veil.

SILK ORCHID hair website #1

These are much pricier than the first link, but they look as if they are much higher quality silk and look much more real. Silk quality DOES make a difference with certain flowers. gerbers for example, all look 'harsh' no matter what silk is used, but gardenias, peonies and orchdis, they just look more real if they are better quality. Just an FYI.

Higher end Orchid clips

If you do decide to go with silk but don't want to pay the moola ordering it, DIY. You can just buy a spray of orchids at MICHEALS and I think it comes with at least 4 flowers so you can make one for yourself and for your BM's or MOH. Just clip off the head from the stem then hot-glue it to either a small hair comb (AC MOORE OR MICHEALS) or a clip. You can also wire it but thats ALOT more work.

thanks for the info. i was thinking of doing this to my hair as well. i was thinking of attaching a veil underneath my hairdo that way you can still see the flower in my hair.

Anytime and yes thats a good idea too-put the flower on top in the style and then push the comb of the veil upwards beneath the style so it doesn't obscure it. Still get veil effect but ca't do the blusher portion.

So pretty but do you see how a style like that needs a silk orchid? A real one would just get demolished.
