Did anyone have this problem?? I got an RSVP today for somebody. I did not invite this person with a guest. She put on her RSVP card her & Guest. OH MY GOD!! WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE!!! THEY ARE SO RUDE!! What is the rule of thumb for this? Is every single person supposed to be invited with a guest???

Re: an RSVP - I am very mad
What!!! I'd be mad too ... I just started getting my rsvp's back ... if people do that I think I may call them directly and ask them who they intend to bring.
I did NOT invite every single person '&guest'. If they had a significant other I invited them as a guest. I don't know what I would do!!!

I would invite single people with a significant other or not with a guest. I would hate going someplace alone. If You did send them out without & Guest I would think it is very rude to put & Guest on her reply

if you sent it out without and guest, then that is rude, and you could simply say ' there is no room for extras', however if the person will not know others at the wedding then they should be given a guest in the first place

I invited some without guest, but only those I know have plenty of people they know.

you've got to nip this in the bud - call her immediately and tell her that due to space restrictions, you could only invite her, not a guest. apologize but be firm. good luck!

Yup it happened to me. I was mad as hell, but in the end it all evened out because I had 10 people cancel on me in the last WEEK.

Re: an RSVP - I am very mad
I dunno.. I am so freaking out I'll have only 20people show in a room set for 100
I think we may set the room for 80 and pray, hope and beg for the best.
But I must apologize. If I received an RSVP that didn't clearly indicate this was for one person only, I'd have assume it was plus guest. Maybe I haven't RSVP'ed enough.

Re: an RSVP - I am very mad
Many people don't understand the etiquette, esp. if they have never be involved in planning a wedding. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt, she probably did not mean to impose or offend you.
However, I agree that if this bothers you just call her and explain you do not have room for her guest.
Sorry you have this stress

I agree with Sandy...be firm, stand your ground and tell her you did not invite her with a guest...however, if this was my problem, I don't think I'd be able to call this person and tell her she can't come with a guest...but you should!!!!

Re: an RSVP - I am very mad
You need to call and tell her that while you are looking forward to seeing her at the wedding you are unable to invite her with a guest and hope that she understands. If she says 'that isn't fair' or anything like that just say 'again, we hope that you will attend our special day but due to finacial and guest limits we are not able to invite you with a guest' PERIOD..the End. people are rude but you have control over this situation so don't get yourself crazy over it.
