I had someone who was invited with a guest tell me that she is bringing her sister as her guest. I don't know her sister very well, but from what I do know, I don't really like her. Do you think it is appropriate for a wedding guest to do this? Also, FBIL doesn't have a date and FMIL is encouraging him to bring one of his buddies. He's 19 years old. Is this appropriate? I personally would never even think of doing such a thing. I'm just curious, what do you all think?

Re: 'And Guest' question
I could be wrong . . .but, I think that if you don't specify who her 'guest' is, she can pretty much bring whomever she wants!

Re: 'And Guest' question
I think it is unusual - BUT I think if you send it 'and guest' without a name they can tech. bring anyone they want -

I am having a problem with this, too. I cannot decide who to invite with a guest, and I hope people will not bring random guests!!

Re: 'And Guest' question
I am in the minority here, but I hate the 'and guest' thing.
I am doing it, but not liking it.

Re: 'And Guest' question
Ok....please, PLEASE don't take this the wrong way . . .but if you want certain people to bring specific guests, then why not specifically put their names on the invitation? I'm a little confused.

Re: 'And Guest' question
From everything that I read about the guest part..if they are not SERIOUSLY dating someone.you just invite them and dont put ' and guest' on the invitation. They are there to celebrate your wedding and thats it. I have a friend who goes to weddings and scrapes up a date just so she can bring a guest and its insane..some books even say that only if they are engaged do you put guest..its your call.

Re: 'And Guest' question
I'm not freaking out about this or anything at all. I just thought it was strange. I'd have to pay for a date or a guest either way so it doesn't bother me. I guess I was just surprised and wanted to know if this was common. If FH couldn't come with me to a wedding, I would just go alone. I wouldn't bring my brother or a friend. That would just be weird. Oh well. Thanks for your thoughts everyone!

Re: 'And Guest' question
radiostar - I completely understand what you are saying. I invited people and guest because I always thought it is nice to be able to bring a date to weddings. A dance partner, someone to talk to, etc., especially if you don't know anyone else. I just thought it was the right thing to do. No big deal. I'm paying for the guest either way. I was just surprised.

Re: 'And Guest' question
I think a guest is a guest. It's a little weird to bring her sister but if she doesn't have a random date she can bring to your wedding, at least she is with someone she will be comfortable with.
