'and guest' situation

'and guest' situation

Let's say that you decided to not invite a group of people 'who are all family with one another' without a guest. One person has the balls to call you out on it and basically say that they want to bring a guest. Do you back down and say ok fine you can have a guest (but then you run into the possibility of other people from the group wanting to bring a guest as well) or do you stick by your decision that you and FH originally made and say I'm sorry but no, you can not have an and guest. Keep in mind, we already invited 31 people over what you wanted to invite in the first place.

I think it is pretty obvious where I stand on this one, but I am just wondering if I am wrong here. What would you do if you were me?

Tell them - unfortunately you cant have anymore guest because you have reached your rooms limit-

that might work-

No you are right......they have nerve. If they don't like it they should just not come.

Ummmm it sort depends on the person/situation....personally I totally see where your coming from figuring 'its a group of single people who all know eachother if their not in a relationship whats the need to invite with guest' on the other hand....I think that people become offended when they are adults and not invited with a guest (friends have complained in the past when invited to a wedding without a guest)

So it is a tricky situation at the end of the day it is your day and if you cant invite them with a guest you cant. HTH

I was semi in your situation. One of the girls in my BP is not dating anyone so I didn't invite her with a guest. She asked me a few weeks ago if her invite says and guest. I told her if she is dating someone at the time of my wedding she is more than welcome to bring them but I don't want her to bring some random person to my wedding. And just a note (not to you, to everyone), if you don't agree with what I said please keep it to yourselves or you can FM me if you feel very strongly about it.

ditto---sticky situation.

in your case--i would say what you do for one--you'll have to do for everyone else. so if you allow one to bring a guest--be prepared for others to say they want one too. so you have to ask yourself if you are prepared for that.

I agree that it depends on the people..

if these are adults over 21 and in relationships, it gets sticky and they usually would get invited with their significant other.. if they are either under 21 or very clearly not in a relationship then I'd say you could stick to your guns.. my opinion

she is 20 and she is dating this guy, however, he is not exactly the type of person who you would want at your wedding to say the least...also when someone in their immediate family got married 4 years ago (when i was 20 and dating FH for over 6 years) I was not invited to the wedding
