And it begins....**mini update**
CMonaco you'll understand this one!
Ok Ladies, this is going to be a long one. I have yet to encounter any wedding drama, up until yesterday that is.
Here is a little background info:
FH and I get engaged on 10/12/12. We booked Westbruy Manor the end of January 2013. As some of you may remember FH's (step)grandfather passed away on his birthday March 7, 2013.
The day after Michael's grandfather died, his (step)cousin comes down from upstate new york to attend the wake & funeral. The day before the wake, her fiance proposes in front of her family. (yes, he proposed the day after her grandfather died! talk about nice timing!) Now I kept my opinions to myself about how I found their timeing of their engagement strange. Needless to say I don't know her very well BUT FH has been a part of his stepfathers life & family since he was 12. He is now 27. So we all talked about getting married and the usual sh!t.
Fast forward to the day of the burial. In the car the leaving the cemetary, the cousin asks FH's Stepfather to walk her down the aisle when she gets married because her father (his brother) died many years ago.Of course he was honored and said yes! (This is not her first marraige by the way. She was married once already & has children & her fiance was married already once with multiple children) So we arrive at the restaurant where we had lunch after the funeral and the cousin proceeds to tell me that they are going to get married 7/4/2014 (meanwhile they have only been engaged about 48 hours at this point) So I said OMG thats great! Just whatever you do, do not book June 20, 2014. At this point everyone in FHs stepfather's family knew our date.
Yesterday I find out that she changed her mind, and isn't getting married July 4, 2014--SHE IS GETTING MARRIED JUNE 21, 2014!!! The day AFTER our wedding. Are you effing kidding me?!?!?! My FMIL & FStepFIL both call her asking her to change the date because our wedding doesn't end until 1 am and the wedding will be all the way up near rochester! *And the kicker, the caremony is at 1 in the afternoon. That means his parents would have to leave at 5am to get there on time* Of course she says NO and then has the nerve to say 'I guess you wont be at my rehearsal'. Seriously?! His stepson is getting married the day before your wedding!
So now it sucks because all of FStepFIL's family is going to have to chose between two weddings because it's virtually impossible to attend both. FH's Mom and Stepfather are in a sh!tty situation because he feels obligated to walk her down the aisle for his deceased brother YET his stepson is getting married the day before. There is no way they can leave our wedding early obviously, && if they don't go it will start a war I am sure. Plus I am sure so many other people are going to feel obligated to go to the cousins wedding (because she is their blood while my FH is a 'step')
I know we have a year to go and things can change but SERIOUSLY! what the eff! There are 51 other weekends in the year to pick and you pick ours!
There isn't really anything I can do but I figured you ladies would enjoy this story
This is what I get for saying I dont expect any wedding drama from our families ![]()
ETA: FH is annoyed because she knew the date & obviously didn't care that we wouldn't be there. There is no way we would make it to her wedding the day after ours, so I guess our presense meant nothing to her!
ETA 6/16: FMIL has decided not go & its looks like FSFIL most likely wont either. FH still thinks he may call her just to basically be like 'what the eff' lol
