last night FH and I visited Douglaston Manor and liked it very much. Now he is convinced we should get married there because it is about $15 pp cheaper than VYC, and he loves the golf course background/city scape.
My issue is with the ballroom in the T-shape. I feel like some guests will be annoyed if seated in the 'T' area bc they cant easily see/mingle with the people in the main area near the bride/groom. Additionally I did not think the main bathrooms were so great... usable yes, but not as classy as I had hoped.
Whiie the food list looked good, it did not look nearly as plentiful as VYC. Maybe it's just me being biased (lol) but VYC seemed to offer more.
*sigh* Why does this have to be so hard?

Take your time and weigh out your pro's and con's b/f making a final decision. You want to be 100% sure on your RH when booking. Good Luck!!!

Layout of the room was very important to me, because I did not want people to feel like they can't see half the party.
You are looking at 2 totally different places, one being on the water and the other on a gold course....weigh your options. I personally would go with whatever offers you the most for your $.

I think if you have any doubts, just move to the next one...
There are so many RH's out there and you will find one that fits perfectly for the both of you! Don't give up and keep the search going

Re: and the search continues....
the issue is that we are looking at next June, so time is ticking. I really want this to be done by April so I can meet all the other vendors (photo, flowers, and dj first off) and get who I want for a great price.
I know we have to weigh pluses and minuses. FH keeps saying people just want to eat and drink, and wont care if they are seated further from the bride and groom. In the end, he said I should pick what makes me happy which is very sweet. I wish we could just go to Vegas! lol

11'er crashing... dont know if you were interested in looking any where else... but im booked at Floral Terrace(the same owners as Sand Castle)
The ballroom is a dome... the seating is a semi circle, and the dancefloor is circular and raised-- its really worth checking out it holds 500 guests...

Tell me about it! I had the same issues when looking for a RH... FH would like so many and there would be things about each place I didn't like. I guess try and weigh what is most important to you and then go from there. I discovered I couldn't find a RH that had EVERYTHING I wanted but as long as the important stuff was there I was sold at my RH. Just take your time- We looked at 10 diff places so I'm glad we didn't just rush into booking any.

Thanks, girls. We have two more this weekend and then FH wants to be done. I really want something that is not on a main road, so anything on Jericho Tpke is out. I like when you drive up to something, a bit more picturesque.
And yes, I know that is totally OCD and picky but it's me. lol
I have a feeling I am going to try and bargain more with VYC bc we did love it, and I can see us married on the water. I am a beachy kinda girl

Re: and the search continues....
Have you checked out Chateau La Mer or Bridgeview Yacht Club? They're both on the water. I checked out 18 places before I booked so I definitely think you should love the place you book. When I talked to Venetian they seemed open to working with my budget so if you love it, i'd definitely go back and bargain. Let them know there's another place offering a slightly lower price and see if they can do anything to keep you. Good luck!

Re: and the search continues....
I have heard mixed reviews on CLM, enough so that I dont want to check it out. I think Bridgeview is out of my price range, but I guess I should call to find out.
Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I left a message for the BM at VYC and am going to make another appt to see how low they can go.
I love a bargain! lol

I know how you feel. I was worried about not being able to get a place because it was already book. Honestly I had more anxiety over that than planning the rest of my wedding.
