And the Venue debacle continues.....

Original post by Soon2BeMrsMango

Ok, so figure this. 12 venues we have seen so far. As of yesterday 7 pm none of them were 'the one.' As of 6pm tonight, 2 of them are 'the one.' go figure!

So let me fill you in...the candidates are....
Westbury Manor & Bridgeview Yacht Club

I know what you're thinking, they are totally different. Tell me about it.

This is where you ladies come in- I need help narrowing it down. Here are the pros & cons: (there are probably more just haven't put them all down on paper )

Westbury Manor- works in budget, a lot more food & add ons included, seemed more willing to work with us, really liked the banquet manager, loved the grounds, doesn't fit my nautical vision so I would need a whole knew theme/feel, not one wedding at a time, FH really likes

Bridgeview- a bit cheaper, less food the WM, totally fits my vision of nautical/on the water, didn;t particularly like the banquet manager, one wedding at a time, I can choose start time, FH hasn't seen it yet (he's seeing it Saturday)

So basically what it comes down to is had I not seen Bridgeview I probably would have given up on nautical, suc*ed it up found a new 'vision' and called it a day. Now just when I am about to move on I see Bridgeview and my dream vision comes back.

Do I go with the better package & more for our money or the view and my vision of a nautical wedding with less for the money. Am I going to regret not doing nautical? (My mom says once I find a new theme I'll be obsessed with it like I am nautical, which is probably true! haha)

(I am literally losing sleep over this venue process, I HATE IT! I don't know how FH is even dealing with me anymore )

PS- I swear I am not crazy!

nice!Start playing around with other themes to see how you feel about them. We aren't going and actual theme. our centerpieces are going to be very fall like, pumpkins leaves lanterns.
Cake is included which is a nice plus, I have heard great things about the bakery they use.

I would go with what is most important to you. The theme or more for your morning. That will help you in making your decision.

Ofcourse I am bias because I'm going with WM and Ian the BM is awesome. He would throw in other things in the package if your interested. The weddings as I was told are not exactly the same time. I met the bride on here whose wedding is the same date as mind. She will be done at 5:00 and mine will start at 7:00.

Re: And the Venue debacle continues.....

I just got married at Westbury Manor. I had our ceremony at our church and the reception in the Garden Room. The menu was outrageous compared to many other halls and it sure was plentiful on the day of the wedding.

My FIL is a butcher and was very satisfied with all the meats and everyone complimented us on the food that was served. We had tons of food. Ian threw an extra pasta dish and the chocolate fountain the day we signed the contract which was nice.

The day of the wedding....We too were told that they dont have weddings at the same time, but they did on our wedding day. Our cocktail hr was in the library, the conservatory room and the restaurant while the other wedding had their cocktail hr in our reception room. They had the manor room for their reception.
They had 30 mins to flip the room. Our weddings were 30 mins apart. They also had another party going on upstairs.

3 days before my wedding, I dropped off car airfreshners to have them put on the cars rearview mirror when they dropped them off. I was then called the next day, 2 days before my wedding to tell me they couldnt do this because of another wedding. Needless to say, I was STRESSED and in tears!!!

They gave my coordinators *cheeky glam*, and my DJ 30 mins to set up my reception room that included all my floating candles.

If I had known this would have happened, I would have booked elsewhere.

They even lost my unity candle that was boxed and stored in the bridal suite.

Try your best not to stress about your theme!! Follow your heart on the venue you click with the best!

I was totally set on having a vintage themed wedding & was stressing to all my guests NO BLACK! Hurricane Sandy (ugh I hate that B!!) destroyed our venue! It still isn't rebuilt, so I decided to return all BM dresses & change my theme to black & white (goes with everything!)! You never know what might pop up that could totally change what you had in your head!
Hope this helps!
Best of luck girl!!!

Do you know if these extra parties were the result of Hurricane Sandy? I got married on 11/10 at the Watermill, and when we booked, we'd been told that we'd be the only wedding until the reception started, and then the next wedding would be coming in so we wouldn't really see them.

However, after the hurricane, they were taking on party's from venues that were ruined. When I arrived, 2 weddings were in full swing with the one in my room ending as my cocktail hour started in another room. It worked out fine, and I'm not the type of bride who cared about seeing other brides (they kept trying to block us from seeing each other during pictures), but it definitely wasn't what we expected. I didn't mind though, because I'm sure to those other brides they were life saviors for being able to take on their party at the last minute, and overall it barely affected me. They did a great job of turning around the rooms. I don't think my guests had any clue that another party had walked out an hour before we walked in, because it looked perfect.

I think it's one of those situations where you can't always plan for the worst, but you can do you best.

No these werent Hurricane parties. I don't care about seeing other brides, but the attitudes that arised from questioning how we were lied to wasn't appreciated. We asked our BM to not even show his face at our wedding. Our DJ got 30 mins to set up, but the party before ours in the manor room got unlimited time. I don't think that is fair, when both parties, are paying for the same service.

Like I said, had I known this before I wouldn't have booked here. I would have saved myself a lot of aggravation a few days before my wedding that I seriously did not need.
